Highlights
Calcium is required to build strong bones and teeth.* Calcium is
more effective in reducing the risk of osteoporosis when used with other
minerals.* Most doctors recommend supplemental calcium to women of all
ages; teenagers and women on low-calorie diets are at special risk of
calcium deficiency.* For maximum absorption, calcium should always be
taken with food.
The National Institutes of Health
has issued new calcium recommendations:

Magnesium works with calcium to
build strong bones.* In fact, nutritionally-oriented physicians believe
that supplementing magnesium is as important as calcium.* Magnesium
promotes muscle relaxation and is needed for normal transmission of nerve
impulses.*
Phosphorus also works with calcium and magnesium to build strong
bones.* Phosphorus, as part of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the main
source of cellular energy that our bodies use.
Vitamin D3 is called cholecalciferol and is the only
natural Vitamin D. Vitamin D is required for bone formation and enhances
the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus.*
Sorbitol is a natural sweetener which is safe for diabetics. It is
found in some fruits. It is digested more slowly than sugar.
Fructose is found in fruits; in fact, fructose means fruit sugar. It
is sweeter than sucrose (table sugar) and so less is needed.r
