Carb-X™ dietary supplement features 600 mg white kidney bean extract, along with 200 mg wheat inhibitor extract, per two capsules. Both extracts have been studied for their potential ability to support the inhibition of amylase, the enzyme created by the body to break down sugars and carbohydrates. White Kidney Bean is a wonderful source of water-soluble and insoluble fiber that is very helpful for many bowel complaints and helps to prevent constipation. White Kidney Bean is a very good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber, and increased dietary fiber is thought to be an excellent way to promote good cardiac health.
Currently available Amylase inhibitors are extracted from either white kidney bean or wheat. Amylase inhibitors are also known as starch blockers because they contain substances that prevent dietary starches from being absorbed by the body. Amylase inhibitors are not essential nutrients and are not normally produced in the body, so no deficiency is possible. An enzyme that is produced in the pancreas breaks down the carbohydrate molecule with alpha amylase. Kidney bean extracts contain an amylase inhibitor that stops this break down thus it is called a carb blocker such as Carb-X.
