Acidophilus (Lactobacillus acidophilus) is a friendly intestinal
flora that promotes intestinal health, assists in the digestion
of proteins, has anti-fungal activity, and play a role in
candida overgrowth, yeast infections, urinary tract infections,
cancer prevention, cholesterol levels, lactose intolerance,
nutrient assimilation, detoxification, post-antibiotic
treatment, constipation and diarrhea control, bad breath, gas,
and intestinal disorders.

lactobacilli, aid in maintaining favorable intestinal flora.
Lactobacillus acidophilus cultures have been found to be useful
in restoring and maintaining normal intestinal flora and in the
treatment of uncomplicated diarrhea and the discomfort (pruritis
ani), including those associated with antibiotic therapy.
Acidophilus cultures have also been employed in the treatment of
acute fever blisters and canker sores (herpes simplex) and have
been beneficial in the treatment of chronic constipation.
Individuals with an intolerance to the lactose in milk and dairy
products may find Acidophilus preparations useful. This product,
when manufactured, contains per capsule, approximately 3 billion
viable (live) organisms, derived from a specially produced,
freeze-dried preparation of "friendly" Lactobacillus acidophilus
and bulgaricus organisms.
