Sodium Ascorbate is snythesized from a combination of Sodium Bicarbonate and Ascorbic Acid to form Sodium Ascorbate. NOW® Sodium Ascorbate Powder is an inexpensive buffered form of Vitamin C and is Pharmaceutical Grade. From the FDA's website: "Some scientific evidence suggests that consumption of antioxidant vitamins may reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer.
