Bacopa extract is a supplement which is primarily composed of Bacopa whole plant extract derived from the plant Bacopa. This plant is a marine plant under the family of Plantaginceae. The other common name of this plant is Water Hyssop. It is a perennial plant which stands erect and has many stems. Such stems are hairy and leaves are regular in shape either in the form of round or elongated. The plant also bears flowers which may come in white, blue or purple color. It is grown and cultivated by seed propagation or stem fragment dispersal. The leaves of this plant have a similar scent to that of a lemon. Bacopa is commonly found in tropical areas of the world specifically in Asia and America. Since the olden times, this plant is widely used as an herbal medicine in the Ayurvedic community.

Bacopa extract is available in 225 milligram tablets. Each tablet contains 20 % of the active ingredient of Bacopa whole plan extract called bacosides and 12 % calcium. Other ingredients of this supplement are dibasic calcium phosphate, stearic acid, colloidal silicon dioxide and modified cellulose gum. To start with, calcium is important for the body because it can promote bone health and strength. It is also involved in the contraction and relaxation of body muscles most especially that of the heart. Calcium is also essential in the proper regulation of body metabolism and electrolyte balance.

More specifically, Bacopa is useful for the enhancement of memory and cognitive activities.
