N-Acetyl Cysteine, a stable form of the sulfur-containing amino acid L-cysteine, is a powerful antioxidant. N-acetyl cysteine is also a precursor to glutathione, another potent antioxidant that plays an important role in the liver's detoxification pathways.
NAC also known as N-acetyl-cysteine is a well known precursor to glutathione a powerful antioxidant for the liver. NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) is the amino acid L-Cysteine with an acetyl group attached to the amino acid group. NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) is also an antioxidant and natural expectorant. NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) can boost the levels of glutathione in the lungs, liver, kidneys, and bone marrow. NAC has been studied for possible efficacy in AIDs treatment and has been used in the treatment of acetaminophen poisoning but the high doses required to treat this poisoning could cause an allergic reaction in some individuals.
