The Constituents of Noni Juice

Noni juice, extracted from the whole fruit, contains a number of health-promoting constituents, many that come from the pulp. Its properties should give a good idea of its constituents, and the fact that it protects the cardiovascular system from atherosclerosis and the effects of LDL cholesterol oxidation should point to powerful antioxidants and perhaps even plant sterols that reduce the LDL cholesterol levels in the blood.

The beautiful skin and healthy glow of the Tahitians and Hawaiians that take it regularly should underline its antioxidant effect, destroying the free radicals generated by strong sunlight that would otherwise kill off skin cells and cause accelerated aging of the skin. Just look at any heavy smoker to see the effect of free radicals on the skin, or any Californian or Australian that spends a lot of time outdoors in the sun with unprotected skin.

In fact, noni juice contains powerful flavanoid antioxidants, including rutin and asperulodisic acid. Other flavanoids include catechin and epicatechin, again antioxidant in nature and that also protect your skin from the suns' rays, and offer protection against heart disease and strokes. Noni juice also contains phytoestrogens in the form of lignans that are also antioxidant in nature, and help reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancers and also osteoporosis.

The beta-sitosterol contained in noni juice is believed to help reduce the cholesterol level in your blood, while there are several other substances present that are still under investigation. These include heterocyclic iridoids, again antioxidant and that may contain anti-spasmodic properties. There are others whose medicinal nature is still being investigated.

Taking all of that together, it is difficult to believe that noni juice does not possess the health-promoting properties claimed for it, and once all tests have been completed, it will likely be hailed as one of the world's great superfoods.
