POST-WORKOUT STACK
MASS-PEAK & TRAINING-PEAK
A Scientific Approach To
Mastering Muscle Power Output

Brief Overview
Improving skeletal muscle power output is the holy-grail for sports supplements. Muscles achieve peak power output by greatly depending on the replenishment of glycogen (stored carbohydrate in muscle used for fuel), amino acids (glutamine, BCAAs etc) as well as suppressing muscle destroying hormones (cortisol) and highly damaging byproducts called free radicals.

High-intensity exercise results in an increased need of these key nutrients, a rise in cortisol and the accumulation of free radicals in working muscle, each of which has been implicated as a cause of muscle fatigue and the ultimate loss of muscle power output during your next workout.

Enhancing an individual’s ability to replenish and maximize this process by ingesting the proper types of carbohydrates, proteins and antioxidants has been shown to dramatically increase muscle contractile strength, speed and power output while delaying fatigue during your next workout.

Muscle Power and the Glycogen System (Stopping Hormonal Damage)
Muscles have reserves of a complex carbohydrate called glycogen which they use to make ATP, the most critical high powered fuel source for muscle.

During and or after a workout, muscle glycogen stores become depleted, and a series of catastrophic events start to follow. As glycogen becomes depleted, a catabolic (muscle destroying) hormone called cortisol increases. Cortisol literally begins to eat away at muscle tissue and turn it into glucose (blood sugar) in order to make more energy (ATP). This catastrophic series of hormonal events results in a loss of muscle tissue as well as peak power output for your next workout if not addressed optimally.

Muscle Power and the Nitrogen System (Repairing Mechanical Damage)
70% of the protein in your body is found in muscle tissue and that protein contains the muscle building molecule called nitrogen. The amount of nitrogen in muscle determines if your muscles are getting stronger or if they are getting weaker. Working out involves the breaking down of muscle which results in damage and microscopic tears to muscle protein resulting in nitrogen being lost from muscle. This loss of muscle nitrogen is the worst state for any athlete or bodybuilder to be in as it destroys muscle tissue and consequently muscle power output.

Muscle Power and the Anti-oxidant System (Quenching Free Radical Damage)
By two minutes of exercise, the body responds to supply working muscles with oxygen primarily to produce ATP for energy. During this process, somewhere around 2-5% of this oxygen goes bad, and creates “free radicals”, nasty byproducts which are known to play a major role in damaging muscle fibers. Research shows that exercise results in a dramatic increase in the production of free radicals in muscle tissue. If not controlled, a large quantity of muscle could easily be damaged resulting in muscular fatigue, poor performance and a loss of power output. Anti-oxidants neutralize free radicals from attacking muscle tissue and are essential to prevent and repair exercise-induced damage.

MASS-PEAK™ and TRAINING-PEAK™ have been carefully formulated with the world’s most powerful known ingredients to master these critical post-workout power output systems in your body. The production and management of sustainable biological power resources is of vital concern for every athlete, bodybuilder, power lifter etc while disruptions in maximizing the post workout restoration and repair process can contribute to a wide range of metabolic disturbances and symptoms, including fatigue and a massive loss of muscle power output.
MASS-PEAK™
# 1 Rated Weight Gainer

THE MASS-PEAK ADVANTAGE: The higher your training (exercise) intensity, the faster you deplete your body of carbohydrates (glucose and glycogen), amino acids (the building blocks of protein), fat (triglycerides, consisting of fatty acids and glycerol), water and electrolytes (e.g. sodium, potassium). Your body’s #1 and #2 nutritional priorities are, in order, replacing carbohydrates and amino acids. Failure to replace carbohydrates can cause your body to catabolize (break down) muscle tissue resulting in serious losses of muscle mass, strength, speed and power. The MASS-PEAK formula mixes up with water or milk to create a delicious shake that begins addressing your body’s #1 and #2 priorities the instant you swallow it. Each serving drives lean carbohydrate (102 g) and protein calories (50 g) into your tired muscles accompanied by Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) (for fast energy) and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) (to preserve lean mass). The combined effect is to allow you to gain muscle mass, speed and strength incredibly faster and keep every pound of it thereafter. This protects and enhances your ability to sustain higher muscular forces at higher speeds, also known as “speed X strength”, or power. And when it comes to performance, power is what defines a great athlete.

Ingredient Blend # 1
CARBO-MASS™
Branched and Linear Chain Carbohydrate Restoration Complex (containing alpha-(1,4) linked Glucose Polymers), Glucose Transport and Lean Tissue Support Complex (containing Chromium Picolinate and Cinnulin-PF® (Aqueous Cinnamon Extract) (Bark)),Carbogen® (Patented Carbohydrate Maximizing Enzyme Complex).

New Rules For Post Workout Carbohydrates – Low DE Maltodextrins
Low DE (Dextrose Equivalent) maltodextrins have what is perhaps the most unique and intriguing qualities for post workout carbohydrates as they are complex and can deliver more carbohydrates while keeping a low osmolality. Osmolality plays a large role in the speed at which the carbohydrate source is absorbed. While simple sugar mixtures can have a low osmolality, research shows that no matter how much you consume, approximately only 20g of simple sugars can absorb in an hour making them extremely inadequate for post workout.

Low DE maltodextrins pack a much more powerful punch as they have been shown to be able to absorb up to 3 times more grams of carbohydrates and at the same speed of simple sugars. This increased amount being absorbed is super critical as it results in the much needed amount of insulin released. Insulin is secreted automatically by your body in response to rising levels of glucose (from carbohydrates) in the bloodstream. The faster and greater that this release occurs, the faster it will suppress cortisol (muscle destroying hormone), restore glycogen and amino acids from protein back to muscles to promote muscle recovery and peak power output for your next workout.

Studies on low DE complex carbohydrates have shown show that they store more glycogen in athletes than other sources of carbohydrates such as rice and pasta while athletes consuming low DE complex carbohydrates have been more successful in performance times. Studies also show that consuming and absorbing carbohydrates within 30 minutes of completing a workout, they will synthesize twice as much muscle glycogen as waiting two hours for consumption or absorption. This gives you an idea of critical the right post workout carbohydrate source is.

Improving Carbohydrate Utilization - Carbogen™, Cinnulin PF® and Chromium
Carbogen™ is a patented, proprietary enzyme system which has been clinically shown to enhance the conversion of carbohydrates into usable energy by the body. Studies show improvements in blood glucose (23% increase), time to exhaustion (43% increase) and blood acid levels (275% decrease) just 30 minutes into an intense workout. Cinnulin PF® and Chromium have also been shown to support glucose transport mechanisms by enhancing the insulin signaling pathways and activating insulin receptors leading to enhanced glucose uptake in muscle cells.

The need for consuming protein after your workout to repair the muscle damaging effects of training have been long documented. Research shows that in order to maximize your workout, you must immediately consume proteins that stimulate muscle protein synthesis (the making of muscle). You must also consume proteins that protect and keep your muscle (anti-catabolic). Amino acids, especially branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and L-glutamine, are the most powerful nutrients of their kind with which to stimulate muscle protein synthesis and inhibit muscle protein catabolism. Glutamine makes up approximately 60% of skeletal muscle protein while the branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine) constitute approximately 35% of skeletal muscle protein. An increasing amount of literature suggests that these amino acids play the most significant role in stimulating protein synthesis and protecting your body from muscle protein breakdown.

Research also shows that the digesting rate of protein is a critical regulator of muscle growth and muscle protection and that different proteins are better equipped at doing each. It is this combination that is highly coveted in order to achieve peak muscle power output. The major proteins in which to achieve different digestion rates as well as supply these most powerful amino acids to muscle tissue are the milk proteins, whey and casein which differ in very important aspects.

Whey Protein Stimulates Protein Synthesis
Whey proteins have be shown to be far superior for muscle growth as they are rapidly absorbed, making them exceptionally valuable after a workout. They are emptied from the stomach quickly, resulting in a rapid and large increase in amino acids in the blood. It is this increase of amino acids that makes whey protein so unique as it sends signals to your body to increase the manufacturing of muscle tissue. While whey protein is superior in this regard, it is important to understand that this positive effect leads to a short and limited supply of aminos and does not stop long term muscle protein loss.

Milk Protein Isolate Bridges The Gap
Milk Protein Isolate is a medium rate digesting protein with a natural combination of whey and casein protein. It takes longer to raise blood amino acid levels than whey protein and also drops slower. Its release rate falls right in between whey and casein and then continues in line with casein making it an ideal protein to ensure that amino acids stay in the blood between the two.

Casein Protects Hard Earned Muscle
The superior long-lasting effect of casein provides the slowest rate of digestion which results in a slow but steady release of amino acids into circulation for the longest duration of time. Studies show that casein is superior in providing a sustained anti-catabolic (muscle protecting) environment while one study resulted in a 34% reduction in muscle protein breakdown over a 7-hour period.

Aminogen® Elite
This complex contains the same patented blend of protein-digesting enzymes evaluated in an open label study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition in July of 2008. Compared to the control group, subjects who ingested a combination of 50 g of protein and Aminogen® more than doubled their speed of amino acid absorption and increased nitrogen retention by 32%. Both of these properties favor greater gains in muscle growth, repair and recovery. Remarkably, amino acid levels still appeared to be on the rise after 4 hours in the subjects who ingested protein combined with Aminogen®.

Ingredient Blend # 3
Omega 3-MCT™:
Flax Seed Powder [containing omega 3 (alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)),
omega 6 (linoleic acid (LA)), omega 9 (oleic acid (OA)) and lignans], MCT’s (Medium Chain Triglycerides), Safflower (naturally containing CLA (conjugated linoleic acid)).

In addition to providing athletes with essential polyunsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, this complex supplies medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) for fast-acting energy and naturally occurring conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) to promote nutrient repartitioning and optimize the athlete’s body composition.

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are the building blocks for prostaglandins, a class of hormones that regulate numerous bodily functions, including cellular responses, immune function, and hormone synthesis. Omega 3 fatty acids have been shown to help increase stamina, recovery time, lean muscle, brain function and reduce inflammation and joint pain.
