Researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that pomegranate fruit extract may delay and treat prostate cancer. Hasan Mukhtar and colleagues found that PFE inhibited the growth of prostate cancer cells in mice. The amount of PFE given to the mice corresponded to humans eating about one of two pomegranates a day. Another study, published in the sept. 16 issue of the American Journal of Cardiology, found that pomegranate juice is good for the heart. Adults who drank one glass of pomegranate juice daily had significantly improved blood flow to the heart, thereby reducing the risk of angina and heart attacks.
