Used by the Aztecs as part of certain rituals, Damiana 
(Turnera diffusa) is native to Mexico and is now found 
throughout the southern United States and many parts of South 
America. Damiana makes a fragrant, sparkling tea with a 
delicious aroma and an agreeable bitter taste. Its aromatic 
leaves are sometimes employed to flavor liqueurs. 

Damiana is 
also smoked by some instead of tobacco. Damiana is held in high 
repute by Spanish herbalists forits varied beneficial purposes. 
Damiana is still used by many for its traditional applications. 

Damiana is a small shrub belonging to the Turneraceae family and native to Mexico, West Indies and Central and South America regions. Its scientific name is Turneradiffusa. It has aromatic leaves whose smell is likened to that of chamomile. It is possible to take damiana as tea just like chamomile. Damiana leaves are used in preparing herbal tea, which was used by the natives in South and Central America due to its aphrodisiac properties.
