Catnip (Nepeta cataria)
Definition: By acting as a natural antispasmodic, catnip helps to alleviate gas pains, promotes therapeutic perspiration during fevers and calms the central nervous system.
Applications: Colic, intestinal gas, bloating, diarrhea, stomach cramping, insomnia, colds, flu, fevers and pain.
Scientific Updates: Today, catnip is sometimes called nature's Alka Seltzer due to its ability to stimulate digestion.It also has some antibiotic properties which may help to control stomach bacteria. It is used for a wide variety of ailments including insomnia, and anemia and is rich in organic iron, which helps to build the blood.
Complementary Agents: Ginger, fennel, peppermint, papaya, capsicum, saw palmetto berry, myrrh gum, calcium carbonate, pepsin and acidophilus.
