Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis)
Definition: For generations, this herb has been a favorite choice for the treatment of various eye diseases. It is particularly effective for any inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye, in addition to light sensitivity, minor irritations, weeping, itching, etc.
Applications: Allergic reactions (eye-related), cataracts, conjunctivitis, diabetic retinopathy, eye inflammations, eye infections, eye strain, glaucoma and vision problems.
Scientific Updates: This herb has natural astringent and anti-inflammatory properties contained in its compounds which have not undgergone scientific study as of yet.
Complementary Agents: Bilberry, red raspberry, goldenseal, grape seed or pine bark extract, vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin C, bioflavonoids and antioxidant array.
