Pregnenolone
Definition: Pregnenolone is a naturally occurring hormone that recently proved to have potential health benefits. It is a chemical derivative of cholesterol and is technically considered a steroid like DHEA, cortisol, progesterone, testosterone and estrogen. Pregnenolone is synthesized from cholesterol in several organs. Pregnenolone can be metabolized into progesterone and easily converts into DHEA.
Applications: Pregnenolone is currently in use as a supplement for enhanced brain function, memory deficiencies, Alzheimer's diseases, mood disorders, chronic fatigue, cholesterol levels, lupus, immune weakness, multiple sclerosis, PMS, prostate disease, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, stress and trauma.
Recommendations: Pregnenolone is usually sold in capsule form and should be taken as directed.
