Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens)
Definition: The saw palmetto berry was used by ancient Mayans to treat disorders of the genitourinary tract. Interestingly, today's scientists are discovering that compounds in saw palmetto can prevent the conversion for testosterone to dihydortestosterone, which helps to prevent the development of prostate disease. The herb is considered an overall glandular tonic.
Applications: Prostate disease, genitourinary problems, endocrine disorders, infertility, impotence, bronchitis, colds, menstrual disorders, ovarian dysfunction, lactation, thyroid deficiencies, digestive problems and painful menstrual periods.
Complementary Agents: B-complex, calcium/magnesium, calcium carbonate, ginger, proanthocyanidins, phytonutrients, bee pollen, fennel, catnip, peppermint, capsicum, acidophilus, kelp, sarsaparilla, ginseng, digestive enzymes, bee pollen and bee propolis.
