Slippery Elm (Ulmus fulva)
Definition:
Slippery elm comes from elm tree bark and is a mucilaginous compound used for generations by Native Americans to soothe irritated mucous membranes. Its protective and healing action make it an excellent herb for treating diarrhea, colon disorders, sore throats or intestinal ulcers.
Applications:
Abscesses, asthma, bronchitis, colitis, constipation, coughs, diarrhea, digestive disorders, lung ailments, gastritis, ulcers and heartburn.
Scientific Updates:
Clinical studies have proven the value of slippery elm for the treatment of diarrhea, coughs, stomach upsets, colitis and a variety of lung problems.193 The antitussive action of slippery elm can soothe raw throats and inhibit chronic coughing.194 In addition, the high mucilage content of this herb helps to heal and restore the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract.195 The fact that slippery elm is found in over-the-counter medications in the U.S. and Great Britain attests to its versatility.

Marshmallow, fenugreek, saw palmetto, mullein, thyme, pumpkin seed, yucca, aloe vera, capsicum, yerba santa, wild cherry, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, vitamin A, B-complex, vitamin E, zinc and acidophilus.
