Wild Yam Cream (Transdermal Applications of Natural Progesterone)
Definition:
Wild yam cream is a cream base which contains diosgenin, a plant percussor for the synthesis of progesterone extracted from wild yam. Mexican wild yam is one of the richest phytoestrogen botanicals and provides the human body with a natural and safe source of progesterone. Currently, wild yam is experiencing a resurgence in an attempt to use safe, natural hormonal therapy rather than synthetic varieties. Because the molecule is fat-based, it can be more efficiently absorbed through the skin than when taken orally.
Applications:
PMS, menopause, hormonal imbalances, irregular or heavy periods, hormonally induced moods, fibrocystic breasts, uterine fibroid tumors, ovarian cysts, osteoporosis, as a preventative from uterine, ovarian and breast cancer, obesity, fibromyalgia and prostate disease (in proper amounts).
Recommendations:
Creams, oils and roll-ons are available under different product labels. Make sure you are getting whole wild yam in its natural form without too many other filler compounds which would weaken its potency. The addition of progesterone to wild yam is frequently seen to strengthen its effects, however the desirability of such an addition is debated by some health experts.
