Wood Betony (Betonica officinalis)
Definition: As a medieval remedy for head ailments, wood betony's glycoside content can help to alleviate head pain and dilate blood vessels. It is considered a nervine calmant herb.
Applications: Nervous disorders, headaches (especially tension), insomnia, hysteria, facial pain, migraines, liver protectant and Parkinson's disease.
Scientific Updates: Today, scientists have found that wood betony has the ability to dilate blood vessels and promote relaxation. Its vascular effect has been linked to its ability to relieve headache pain, hence causing muscles to relax.
Complementary Agents: Valerian, hops, skullcap, marshmallow, mullein, chamomile, black cohosh, melatonin, lavender, vitamin B-complex and calcium/magnesium.
