Reishi has been shown to support
general and specific immune resistance
in modern animal and in vitro studies.
Modern pharmacological research has
identified more than 100 oxygenated
lanostane triterpenes in the reishi
fruiting body and mycelium (the
immature but most active growth
stage of the mushroom before the
fruiting body is developed). The
mycelia also contain several constituents
that are not present in the
mature fruiting body, including triterpenoids,
polysaccharides, sterones and
an unsaturated fatty acid.
