MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)
MSM - MSM is an organic form of sulfur found in all living organisms. It is
the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body (tenth most abundant
in the known universe) and is found in every cell. Sulfur provides the chemical
links needed to create collagen, which forms and holds the molecular structure
of connective tissue. It forms the disulfide bonds in connective tissue that
are the links in the glycosaminoglycan chains that form cartilage. MSM is an
essential nutrient, not only for connective tissue, but also for all other tissues
in the human body. Unfortunately, modern food-processing methods greatly
reduce natural MSM levels in foods, so very little is obtained from the diet these
days, unless your diet is rich in unprocessed milk, vegetables and grains. Sulfur
is abundant in chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid, two constituents that
support healthy joint function*.1
...CM SOURCE (Cetyl Myristoleate)
CM Source- Cetyl Myristoleate (CM) is a naturally occurring fatty acid
ester derived from both vegetable and animal sources. It’s a combination of
a fatty acid, myristoleaic acid, and cetyl alcohol. This combination produces
an especially slippery substance (CM), which assists glycosaminoglycans,
such as chondroitin, in the lubrication of articular cartilage. Slippery articular
cartilage allows bones and muscles to slide smoothly over cartilage, reducing
wear-and-tear and supporting healthy joint function*. Dr. Harry Diehl, a
researcher at the U.S. National Institutes of Health, is credited with the
discovery of cetyl myristoleate in 1962.2
...JOINT SUPPORT
Joint Support - Joint Support from NOW® is a dietary supplement
designed to support healthy joint structure and function. We’ve combined
Glucosamine HCL, Boswellin, Sea Cucumber and Bromelain to create a
truly unique and effective product. Glucosamine hydrochloride, similar to
glucosamine sulfate, provides some of the raw material necessary to maintain
healthy articular cartilage. Boswellin and Sea Cucumber are detailed below.
Bromelain is a proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzyme derived from the stem
and flesh of the pineapple plant (Ananas comosus). These ingredients together
form one of the most complete joint support products available today.
...BOSWELLIN
Boswellin - Boswellin is a gummy resin produced by the Boswellia serrata
tree. Boswellin has been safely used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of
years, and modern research supports the effectiveness of this herbal extract.
The active ingredients in Boswellin are boswellic acids. Numerous studies
have shown that boswellic acids support healthy joint function by inhibiting
leukotrienes. Leukotrienes are compounds produced in the body during an
interaction between oxygen and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). By
inhibiting the production of leukotrienes, Boswellin may help to support
mobility and ease of movement. Studies have also shown that boswellin
may improve blood flow and support healthy connective tissue.3,4
...SEA MUSSEL & SEA CUCUMBER
Sea Mussel & Sea Cucumber - The sea cucumber, also known as Beche-de-
Mer, is an aquatic animal related to sea urchins and starfish (echinoderm).
This unassuming resident of the seas possesses a fantastic health benefit.
Research has revealed that it’s a rich source of glycosaminoglycans, which
support healthy joint structure and function. The green-lipped sea mussel,
like the sea cucumber, also provides a natural source of glycosaminoglycans.
In addition, a glycogen complex found in sea mussel supports balanced
neutrophil function.5
