Olive Leaf and Superbugs
Olive leaf can be used to treat conditions caused by superbugs. This is the name commonly given to bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, and which have become resistant due to the increasing use of antibiotics for most bacterial infections. Through time the bacteria find a way to resists penicillin and other antibiotics, and become very difficult to treat. MRSA is one example of a superbug, another being the recent form of E. coli found in Europe that is resistant to treatment.
Because olive leaf possesses antibiotics that retain their effectiveness against such forms of disease, it is increasingly being used, particularly in Europe, to treat such bacteria in place of the ineffective prescription antibiotics. It is also starting to become used more commonly by medical personnel in the USA for the same reasons. Among its modes of action, olive leaf prevents or retards the replication processes of such species, and so enables the immune system to do its work without such bacteria being able to duplicate and overwhelm you natural defenses.
