A recent study by the American Academy of Dermatology has show that the use of a cannabinoid for three weeks can eliminate severely itchy skin. The key ingredient is the chemical component THC or tetrahydrocannabinol which has anti-inflammatory properties. The importance of this study suggests that a topical ointment consisting of cannabinoids can reduce or eliminate several skin conditions which have proven hard to treat with typical ointments. These conditions include eczema and psoriasis. One caveat however, this study has only been based on a small sampling of participants and no large scale studies have been performed as of yet.
