Why do I have so much gas?

Subject: Why do I have so much gas?

Gas and bloating can have a variety of causes. Constipation allows fecal matter to ferment and feed bacteria in the colon, for example. Cruciferous vegetables can also cause excess gas because they contain indigestible raffinose. Carbonated beverages, artificial sweeteners and chewing gum are some additional common causes. People with lactose intolerance can get bloated if they consume dairy products, as can people who consume too much fiber or are too sedentary. In some cases, excess gas can be a sign of an underlying condition like celiac disease or pancreatic insufficiency.

Key Takeaways:

  • When stool sits in the colon, which is the case with constipation, the fecal matter ferments and causes gas.
  • The sugar in dairy can ferment and lead to gas when it isn't broken down by the appropriate enzyme, which is the case with those individuals that are lactose intolerant.
  • The natural sugar in cruciferous vegetables can also cause gas, because the body finds it difficult to digest.

"While gas is usually just a normal part of gut function, it can, rarely, be the sign of an illness. Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten, can lead to gas and bloating. Excessive gas can also be the result of pancreatic insufficiency, a disease in which the pancreas doesn’t produce enough of the enzymes needed to digest food."

Subject: What Is Vitamin A Good For? It Turns Out a Lot of Things

Vitamin A has numerous health benefits, and is a nutrient that most people already get a sufficient amount of. Vitamin A is found in meats, eggs, seafood, fruits and vegetables. Vitamin A helps your eyesight. However, too much Vitamin A can actually cause blurred vision. Vitamin A is also known for helping your skin via retinoids. It also helps your immune system. Some studies have linked Vitamin A with a lower risk of cancer, although the science is not conclusive.

Key Takeaways:

  • Many persons in the developed world need not worry about their intake of vitamin A because they already get enough from their diet.
  • The World Health Organization doesn’t recommend supplementation for anyone living in countries like America because people already eat the things that contain it like eggs and meat.
  • Vitamin A deficiency results in eyesight issues and this is very well demonstrated in developing countries where supplementation is being proposed.

"But even if you don't have to worry about getting enough vitamin A in your diet, it's still important to know what it does in the body — here's what we know about it."

Subject: Your depression may be caused by chronic brain inflammation

Depression is something that a ton of people in the world today suffer from. It is not an easy thing to deal with. However, if you are someone who has it, then you must find how you can cope with it. It may be hard but there is always something that you can do to help yourself. Understanding where depression comes from is difficult as well. However, some doctors say that it can be caused by some brain inflammation.

Key Takeaways:

  • Some neurologists believe that depression is caused by brain inflammation and these inflammations are not readily noticed because the brain doesn’t have pain receptors.
  • People with chronic inflammation are at higher risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease because it causes inflammation of the brain, making the amygdala smaller.
  • The brain chemical deficiency model of depression is the model that scientists have been working on for very long time and it fuels Big Pharma producing harmful chemicals.

"Chronic inflammation is largely caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits such as poor diet, lack of physical exercise, and inadequate sleep, among others. These behaviors, while seemingly inconsequential initially, fuel the inflammation response long after it stops being helpful."

CBD 101: Everything You Need To Know About Giving Your Cat CBD

Hemp, which hails from the genus cannabis, as does its far better known cousin marijuana, is distinct from marijuana for a variety of reasons, the most important undoubtedly being that the substance which makes marijuana a psychoactive substance, capable of producing its signature high' is all but missing in hemp. So, while both plants have components with healing properties, hemp offers users the benefits without the addictive component.

Today, these benefits are being actively pursued by pet owners and not just humans. In the case of cat-owners, CBD as an oil is the best way to administer CBD, although humans have the option of sprays and other means. This is because with oil the dose can be titrated over time, to ensure that the smallest health-giving dose is administered. The odds of any side effects of note are rare, but erring on the side of caution is best. For the sake of legality do make sure that the oil you are using is derived from phytocannabinoids hemp. Know that a reputable provider will make a lab report available too.

Key Takeaways:

  • Cannabis isn’t just for people anymore with an increasing number of pet owners giving their cats and dogs CBD as well.
  • If you plan on giving your cat CBD oil, make sure it is derived from hemp, which doesn’t contain high-causing THC.
  • While side effects are rare in cats, watch out for drowsiness, dry mouth, and nausea.

"Cannabidiol(CBD is found) in all cannabis plants. Both hemp and marijuana plants come from the genus Cannabis. Hemp has no THC unlike marijuana, and as such, it can’t get you high. Therefore, you should always get your CBD oil from hemp ensuring you never get your cat high unless it’s with catnip—that’s completely fine."

Can your dog be arrested for using a cannabis extract?

Subject: Can your dog be arrested for using a cannabis extract?

Thomas McDermott, a Democrat and the Mayor of Hammond, Indiana, brought up the legality of using cannabidiol oil (CBD) for treating his Labrador retriever's arthritis at the BGD Legislative Conference in Indianapolis. At the conference was Republican Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill who last month stated that the use of CBD was illegal in most circumstances in his state after a bill passed to allow epilepsy patients to legally use the oil for seizures. McDermott questioned Hill using a story about his dog that suffered from arthritis, noting that his vet recommended using CBD oil to treat the pain. He mentioned that the oil allowed his dog to move around more easily, had more energy, and had improved appetite. McDermott thought aloud that Hill was "grandstanding" on CBD, but Hill simply stated he was following the law as it was written. When McDermott asked if his dog was breaking the law, Hill responded that the Mayor himself was breaking the law - not the dog. McDermott was upset afterwards that Hill accused him for being a criminal for treating his dog with CBD, and he has no plans to change the therapy for his dog.

Key Takeaways:

  • The owners dog currently used CBD and that is restricted in Indiana for use.
  • The dog is currently on it due to arthritis and it seems to cure his condition.
  • The final conclusion was that the owner was breaking the law, not the dog since the dog has no agency.

"The question Thomas McDermott wanted answered Wednesday doesn’t get asked often during policy discussions in Indiana: Could his Labrador retriever be breaking the law by using a pain remedy extracted from cannabis?"

Subject: Cross Your Fingers—Weed Might Lower Blood Pressure

The effects of CBD (Cannabidiol) are proving to be effective in lowering blood pressure in early testing. CBD is one of the main active chemicals in marijuana, but the effect in this case is not to get high, but to get calm. A company called PotBotics is using the measurement of EEGs to potentially come to a finding that it truly does reduce blood pressure. The magazine Popular Science published some recent results that in initial dosing, blood pressure DID come down.

Key Takeaways:

  • The FDA hates that individuals are self medicating with CBD sprays which are legal.
  • They are many different laws in regards to weed which are inconsistent.
  • According to O'Sullivan research CBD helps blood vessels relax and dilate.

"While the familiar high most people use weed for comes from tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), most researchers agree that CBD provides weed’s mellowing effect. It doesn’t intoxicate users, but it does calm them down."

Summer is a time when mosquitos are at their worst. Many people can deal with mosquitos by using repellent, but others are worried about the DEET and dislike smelling like the spray. For the latter, Vitamin B1 could be a solution. Vitamin B1 can change the way a person smells to mosquitos and makes the person unappealing to bite. However, the Vitamin B1 does not change a person's smell to other humans. The research is not definitive, but Vitamin B1 causes no adverse effects so it could be worth a try if you want to avoid repellent this summer.

Key Takeaways:

  • -Vitamin B1 (also known as thiamine) is an essential vitamin your body needs. It can be found in foods such as yeast, oatmeal, brown rice, asparagus, kale, liver and eggs and is important in fighting
  • -As one of the water-soluble vitamins, any excess that your body doesn’t use gets flushed out when you urinate, so there’s no need to worry about taking too much.
  • -It doesn’t, however, change the way you smell to other humans, so don’t worry about smelling like old bread around your friends.

"But, if you’re like me at all and you not only want to stop smelling like the burnt remains of a chemical plant after using repellent, but also are scared of the adverse effects of DEET in sprays and are more prone to getting bit (seriously though, mosquitoes seemed to love me and only me at parties), then taking Vitamin B1 could be your saving grace."

There has been a crackdown on the use of antibiotics to treat cattle in recent years. In order to overcome the restrictions put on antibiotics to treat diseases in animals, many farmers are turning to other additives that can help fend off disease in their livestock. Hubbard Feeds in Mankato, MN is one leader in organic alternative options for their cattle. They opt to use trace minerals to boost the immune system. This works because your body usually breaks down when it Doesn’t get what it needs from the diet. If cattle ingests the needed nutrients, they are healthier.

Key Takeaways:

  • For years, livestock producers have relied on readily available antibiotics to feed their animals for the treatment and prevention of disease.
  • hey were a necessary tool to maintain animal health. With the introduction of the Veterinary Feed Directive, antibiotics are not nearly as available to farmers as they were one year ago and producers are looking at other feed additives as a replacement to promote health.
  • We are owned by Alltech,” he said. “They are known internationally as a supplier of organic trace minerals.”

We have all tried to diet and found that we just can’t do it. We try again and again to lose some weight only to find that it Doesn’t go away. New research has linked the inability to lose weight with inflammation. Scientists found that converting white cells to brown cells made the weight melt off of rats in trials. This is due to the higher number of mitochondria present in brown cells versus white cells, which uses more energy. While more research needs to be done to determine how to convert to brown cells, they recommend an anti-inflammatory diet.

Key Takeaways:

  • Many of us have had the experience of trying what feels like every diet and workout regimen we come across, without losing weight.
  • It’s easy at this point to get frustrated — to criticize yourself for supposedly not exercising enough, or taking too many cheat days.
  • But a new study suggests that one of the factors at play here may be inflammation.

With marijuana now legal in 26 states and the District of Columbia, the cry for more research on cannabis oil has spread. Many are pushing for the use of cannabis oil, which is a potent form of the plant, to treat cancer and seizures. Though the use of the oil to treat symptoms of diseases is not currently supported by the FDA, some cases have shown success in relieving pain, preventing seizures, and slowing down cancer tumors. It’s important to get use a trustworthy source and start with small doses until you know how you will react.

Key Takeaways:

  • Marijuana is now legal for medicinal use in 26 states and the District of Columbia, and for recreational use in seven, but contrary to what some media may have us believe, this Doesn’t mean that people are just sitting back and getting high.
  • Cannabis is actually a very powerful medicinal plant that has been used for its health benefits for centuries, and its many long-overlooked powers are finally coming into focus.

Hemp is a really amazing plant. Energy drinks are a huge industry, but most of them are very unhealthy and even illegal to be sold to minors. The government of the United States has outlawed a crop that was cultivated for 10000 years. However, there has been an easing on the restrictions from both the state and federal levels recently.

Key Takeaways:

  • Energy drinks are a multi-billion dollar industry while at the same time one of the most criticized. Energy drinks are thought of as poison by many with politicians and healthcare professionals alike trying to eliminate the industry.
  • Bills have been passed in the EU and the US to ban sales to minors. I’m not sure why. The only thing that ought to scare is the sugar content. That Doesn’t change the fact there are growing health concerns, warranted or not.
  • With the power food hemp, its products have ingredients everyone can read and understand right away: carbonated water, beet sugar, citric acid, guarana extract, caffeine, ginseng extract, and natural flavor. Most importantly, it Doesn’t contain high fructose corn syrup.

"As cannabis continues to legalize, hemp is a wonder plant with never ever benefits, and it will continue to integrate in consumer products like RMHB."

Many people suffer from over eating, but there is a similar problem that affects many other people- lack of appetite. Lack of appetite can stem from various factors, but it can be serious to people who are suffering illness and need to take in nutrients to get better. Marijuana is known to cause people to get "the munchies." There are two different components of marijuana that can help with lack of appetite: CBD and THC. Users can get these components in a variety of ways.

Key Takeaways:

  • A lack of appetite can be a serious condition when chronic. When we don’t eat, our health suffers.
  • Marijuana is an approved medication for appetite loss; however, CBD may also help ease symptoms.
  • Not having an appetite can cause problems for people who are already underweight, or individuals who are losing weight when they shouldn’t or don’t want to.

"While CBD isn’t known for its appetite-stimulating properties (in other words, it Doesn’t give users “the munchies” the same way THC is known to do); it can still have some beneficial effects on people suffering from a lack of appetite."

Exercise alone will not get you into the shape you want. You must also put good things into your body. The most important part of a good diet is to get the essential nutrients your body needs to function properly. Copper, iodine, zinc, and magnesium are just a few of the minerals that your body uses every day to regulate its functions. There are many others that we can get from certain healthy foods, that will help your body perform at its best and burn off the fat.

Key Takeaways:

  • A good source of copper is liver, of all things. But if that Doesn’t get your mouth watering, you can also find it in foods like almonds, sunflower seeds, and shellfish.
  • Foods rich in zinc include poultry and red meats, or beans and nuts for vegetarians.
  • You’ll get plenty of magnesium by eating green vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

"If you want to look good, you have to eat well. There’s really no getting around it. You can spend hours at the gym and probably build a good physique."

There have been some confusing reports recently in the British media about a compound in cannabis called CBD and how it has been reclassified as medicine. There are many facts and myths about it, but most importantly it is not weed, and has many uses.

Key Takeaways:

  • There have been some confusing reports recently in the British media about a compound in cannabis called CBD and how it has been reclassified as medicine.
  • CBD, otherwise known as Cannabidiol, is one of over 100 compounds in the cannabis plant called Cannabinoids. The most abundant is THC, the bit that gets people high, after that comes CBD.
  • Because CBD Doesn’t create a high, it’s been labelled ‘the good’ cannabinoid and THC the ‘bad’. But in countries where medical cannabis is legal, THC can be prescribed for cancer patients going through chemo as it eases nausea and improves appetite.

"In the UK it has been possible to buy CBD as a nutritional supplement. But last October, the Medical Healthcare Regulatory Agency decided to recognise CBD’s therapeutic benefits and reclassify it as medicine."

The modern diet does not give enough vitamins to anyone. New research shows that most people in almost every age group are deficient in some sort of vitamins. This can be bad as it can lead to sickness or some sort of health disorder. Supplementation will be needed to fix these problems.

Key Takeaways:

  • Official advice on healthy eating could be making millions of people sick, new research claims.
  • The latest National Diet and Nutrition Survey — a government report which details the nutritional status of the nation — focused on 11 important vitamins and minerals and identified deficiencies in each and every case.
  • 'Education is important, but it is clearly not enough. Everyone knows the five-a-day recommendation for fruit and vegetables, it’s the foundation of ‘healthy’ diet.

When we start feeling rundown and tired, we tend to make jokes about getting old. The truth is, however, that feelings of depression and fatigue are not normal aging side effects. If these feelings are longer than expected, a consultation with a doctor is in order. You know your body best. If something Doesn’t feel right, don’t try to pass it off as aging. There are many factors, medical and physical, that can cause signs of fatigue, depression, change of appetite, and weakness. Only a doctor can order the tests that can tell you the exact reason, so don’t hesitate.

Key Takeaways:

  • When Dr. Christopher Callahan examines older patients, he often hears a similar refrain.
  • This fatalistic stance relies on widely-held but mistaken assumptions about what constitutes normal aging
  • Instead, they're a signal that something is wrong and a medical evaluation is in order.

"If you suddenly find your thinking is cloudy and your memory unreliable, if you're overcome by dizziness and your balance is out of whack, if you find yourself tossing and turning at night and running urgently to the bathroom, don't chalk it up to normal aging."

There is concern over a rumor that the DEA seeks to create a brand new schedule I class of drugs just for marijuana extracts, known as CBD. They must go through a scheduling action to get approval, but many are outraged over the possibility of losing access to any medicinal product made from Cannabis. This can include non-psychoactive drugs. Some are trying to soothe the panic by stating that it Doesn’t include hemp products. As long as it is not a drug, it is not restricted. We will have to wait and see how this plays out.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Final Rule published on December 14th was not a scheduling action but rather an administrative action related to record keeping
  • Such action is an admission that the federal government is really just an obedient lapdog of the United Nations.
  • That company plans to announce to its customers that they have 30 days to purchase their products, after which they plan to pull all sales except for inside their home state.

Subject: Most Americans Have Inadequate Intakes of Vitamins and Minerals: Can Supplements Help?

It is estimated that 90% of humans are deficient in one or more essential vitamins and minerals. While some may be due to inadequate absorption, most is believed to be due to poor nutrient intake. Vitamin B12 and vitamin D have been identified as two of the worst deficiencies. Although nutrient needs should be met primarily by diet, there are supplements available if the diet Doesn’t allow for a proper balance. A multivitamin may be recommended for most people who are at risk of a deficiency.

Key Takeaways:

  • Evidence clearly shows that many Americans obtain less than the required amounts of a number of vitamins and minerals, and that dietary supplement use increases intakes and reduces rates of nutritional inadequacies.
  • When counseling patients, health professionals should emphasize the value of obtaining nutrients from a balanced diet.
  • They found that more frequent use of MVMS was associated with higher rates of nutrient adequacy than low frequency of use or no use (Figure).

Not everyone can manage to have a healthy relationship with food -- or, at least, that's the way it seems. Others seem like they're able to just eat whatever they want and stay alright, while others feel like they're addicted. Still, others bounce from diet to diet. Which are you? "Is your relationship with food on the rocks?" helps determine if your relationship with food is healthy, and what you can do about it if it's not.

Key Takeaways:

  • What, when and why we eat is so wrapped up in social and emotional factors that it goes way beyond simply fueling the body. With millions of Americans on diets every day, it’s challenging to tease out the truly disordered tidbits from what is considered “normal” eating.
  • People with eating disorders often become obsessed with pinning recipes, watching the Food Network and preparing elaborate meals and desserts that they themselves are unable to eat. This high level of preoccupation makes people feel like food is all they can think about.
  • The weight loss industry is a multi-billion dollar entity, and it is so seductive! Miracle meal plans, magic shakes, fat-incinerating supplements, you get the idea. Catchy claims draw people in, then drop them. Hard. Rapid weight loss can happen, but it Doesn’t last.

Gut bacteria unleash anti-aging power of pomegranates

Subject: Gut bacteria unleash anti-aging power of pomegranates

Pomegranates may hold a more significant role than just tasting delicious. There are studies underway that aim to prove the anti-aging benefits of the fruit. It is believed that the breakdown of pomegranate in the gut causes a release of urolithin A, which in turn boosts the cells’ ability to clean up after itself. Without the buildup of mitochondrial matter that happens without urolithin A, the body Doesn’t age as quickly.

Key Takeaways:

  • Researchers reveal a fascinating result of the co-evolution of plants, bacteria, and animals over millions of years. They show the compound enables muscle cells in animals to protect themselves against one of the major causes of aging.
  • As we age, an important process that our cells rely on for energy slows down and begins to malfunction. This process - called "mitophagy" - recycles worn-out mitochondria, the tiny powerhouses inside cells that make the chemical units of energy that fuel their work.
  • The researchers then repeated the tests with rodents. They found, like they did with the worms, that urolithin A led to a significant reduction in faulty mitochondria. Also, older mice - around 2 years old - showed 42 percent better endurance while running than other mice of the same age that had not been exposed to the compound.

"As we age, an important process that our cells rely on for energy slows down and begins to malfunction."

  • It is true that fat has more calories than carbohydrates, including sugar. But by that logic, a sugary beverage is better for you than a handful of nuts.

"These results kick-started the country’s decades-long consumption of added sugar. With fat removed, food lost taste and appeal, so manufacturers added sugar to combat this."

Subject: Science says you can worry yourself sick

A Norwegian study published in the journal BMJ Open is stating what many people have always believed: hypochondriacs can actually worry themselves sick. It was observed that these types of people tend to perform less strenuous labor and smoke more. The lack of physical activity weakens the body, and the smoking is used as a sedative but obviously has negative effects on the body. Unfortunately, doctors telling these people not to worry Doesn’t really work. Only the patient can try to change the way they think.

Key Takeaways:

  • A new study has found that it is, indeed, very possible for hypochondriacs to worry themselves to the point of ill health
  • Health anxiety is a specific type of anxiety characterised by preoccupation of having, acquiring or possibly avoiding illness,
  • Participants with higher levels of health anxiety reported less hours of hard physical activity per week

There are some common pitfalls to avoid when you decide to start eating healthier. Just because something is labeled “healthy” Doesn’t make it so. Check your labels and know your ingredients and then be sure to keep your portions under control as well. You still need to count your calories when you are eating healthy so you know if you are eating too much or too little, as both are common problems.

Key Takeaways:

  • it's entirely possible you'll step on the scale and still not see the progress you were after
  • Well-intentioned diets can go wrong in so many ways
  • Ignoring moderation because "it's healthy!" - so you're eating fresh, whole foods

Subject: Dilute honey 'may fight urine infections'

A recent study at the University of Southampton is proposing the use of honey to prevent microbiological biofilms from developing within catheters. Their research has shown promising results. They were able to use this natural substance to stop E. coli and Proteus mirabilis bacteria from clustering together as in normal catheters. While the research is far from human trials, this would be an alternative welcomed by those who prefer all natural substances. However, that Doesn’t mean it will be as effective as current antimicrobials.

Key Takeaways:

  • Patients often have a catheter fitted, either to drain urine stuck in the bladder or to monitor urine output.
  • In theory, a honey solution might be useful for flushing urinary catheters to keep them clean while they remain in the bladder.
  • Honey has been used for centuries as a natural antiseptic. People have used it to treat burns and wounds and many companies now sell a range of "medical grade" honey products that comply with regulatory standards.

Subject: Botanical benefits buchu leaves

Giving off a sweet, peppermint fragrance, buchu or Agothosma Betulina has been part of the indigenous culture and heritage of South Africa for more than three centuries. Its earliest documentation dates back to 1652 when the Khoisan bushmen first introduced this versatile plant to the Dutch colonists.

Today, it is a well-recognised culinary leaf-spice commonly featured on the menus of top South African restaurants. But apart from its contemporary culinary uses, did you know that it is chock-full of health benefits too?

This herb contains antibacterial, antifungal and antispasmodic properties, providing relief to pre-menstrual cramping and bloating. What’s more, these unassuming leaves have also been used in Western herbal medicine to relieve inflammation, treat kidney, urinary infections, used as a diuretic, as well as a stomach tonic. Like many natural diuretics, buchu Doesn’t seem to lower potassium levels like some drugs do.

It is no wonder the early Khoisans championed this healing herb as an elixir of youth!

Subject: First Day of School and your Child Comes Home Sick? Fight Back With This Remedy

It is quite disheartening when your beloved child comes home sick on his first day of school. And that is most likely due to bacteria back in their school. How do you deal with it? How do you ensure your child is healthy again and cushion him from such sicknesses in the future?

Digestive health is essential when fighting back against bacteria at school.

One way to boost digestive health is through soluble fiber. Acacia fiber is a kind of soluble fiber extracted from Acacia Senegal tree sap. It grows in Pakistan, India and some Parts of Africa. It is also known as the acacia gum or gum Arabic.

The Acacia Fiber is also a prebiotic fibers essential for the strengthening of the good bacteria in the gut. Your child's first line of defense is in the digestive tract.  Keeping their friendly bacteria healthy can block the spread of bacteria in the digestive tract.

Acacia fiber is odorless, flavorless and Doesn’t cause bloating and gas (because it slows down what is known as colonic fermentation). The substance is very safe for continuous and even lifelong use. It has been labeled as safe for use in the treatment of children.

Fight back against school born bacteria by strengthening your child's own friendly bacteria with either a soluble fiber like acacia or by giving them a probiotic daily.

Importance of Phospholipids and Peptides found in Fish oil

Author: Darrell Miller
Subject: Importance of Phospholipids and Peptides found in Fish oil

The demand for fish in the world keeps on increasing as a result of health advantages associated with fish oil. Fish oil is the oil extracted from the tissues of the oily fish, and this oil is known to have some benefits and one of them being the reduction of inflammation in the body. Although fish oil Doesn’t contain the omega-3 fatty acids, fish oil supplements contain these acids that are essential in the body.

Peptides found in fish oil are organic compounds that are groups of amino acids. The peptides have various medicinal benefits that include the following.

The fish peptides found in fish oil help reduce vasoconstriction that gets defined as the narrowing of one’s blood vessels as a result of contraction of the muscular wall. These fish peptides also help to reduce the thickness of the inner walls of the blood vessels that will affect blood circulation. Lastly, fish peptides found in fish oil always inhibit the aggregation of blood.

Fish peptides work in various ways. In their circulatory pressure function, the peptides inhibit the angiotensin converting enzyme. When the formation of angiotensin II gets inhibited, fish peptides help relax arteries and reduce fluid volume hence improving circulation.

When one combines fish oil together with fish peptides, it provides higher cardio-protective advantages than using pure fish oil.

Fish Oil

The advantages of the fish oil supplement like krill oil revolve around their natural composition. It’s bioavailable as it has omega-3 fatty acids always attached to phospholipids. It, therefore, makes the supplement more effective and enables the body in absorbing more omega-3. The krill oil that contain phospholipids has several advantages. It always promotes one’s cardiovascular health. The main omega-3 fats include EPA and DHA that help to combat inflammation mainly in the blood vessels. In a way, it also helps to lower blood pressure and to some extent prevent strokes and heart attacks.

When taken in large quantity during pregnancy, the omega-3 found in these supplements helps a lot in improving neurological development in the newborns. They will help in the child’s development of the eyes, central nervous system and the brain.

The phospholipids that contain omega-3 fatty acids are said to be water dispersible. As a result, this makes them gentler on one’s stomach, hence, the body absorbs them more easily. These phospholipids are also natural and important parts of the cells compared to other marine oil omega-3s.

They help in both the heart and brain health. As a result of proper blood circulation, it ensures that oxygen is also well supplied within the body. They also have the advantages of a healthy inflammation and play a major role in women’s health. Lastly, phospholipids are safe for taking into the body as they are natural supplements.

Phospholipids are absorbed into the body at a faster rate compared to triglycerides found in fish oil. They have a superior absorption rate, and they are more effective in the body. The other reason you should go for phospholipids is that they aren’t chemically altered and are therefore safe for consumption.

In conclusion, the benefits of peptides found in the fish oil and phospholipids include protection of one’s brain from oxidative damage, improve focus as well as mental agility and reduce any depression symptoms. They also strengthen the blood vessels and the arteries.

Subject: I eat Good, Do I Need Trace Minerals?

trace mineralsMinerals

A few carbs, a slice of bacon or two, a glass of milk and later a bottle of mixed tropical fruit juice. Sounds like quite a balanced meal. A good meal most definitely Doesn’t lack the chemical elements or minerals that are in abundance in the human body. These major elements in order of profusion are calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, chlorine and magnesium. But are these the only minerals we require?

Trace minerals

While the above are the main ones, there are other minerals that are essential to good health but are required in very small quantities. These minerals include iron, copper, zinc, molybdenum, cobalt, iodine, bromine and selenium; collectively known as trace minerals. Though in small amounts, they are crucial for immune system function, metabolism and antioxidant protection. A number of health complications such as senility, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and depression have been linked to trace mineral deficiency.

Despite society having more nutritious than ever before, the quality of food has declined as seen in the dwindling quantities of these trace elements in our diet. This can be mainly attributed to lack of these nutrients in the soil due to years of erosion and aggressive farming embraced by farmers in order to meet the demands of the population. Soils have become depleted, resulting in deficiency of trace elements in our meals. So much for modern practices working against mankind.

All is not lost though. There are supplements readily available to tackle this need and come recommended for preventing and managing a number of conditions. They can be taken to address ailments such as Osteoporosis, a disease that causes weakening of bones. Copper, iron, magnesium zinc and manganese help increase bone mass and density and reverse such bone deterioration. Iron also happens to be important in making blood components. The benefits of these supplements can therefore not be underestimated.

Subject: Is D-Ribose Only Good For All Muscular Energy Or Just The Heart?

What is D-Ribose

d-riboseRibose, better known as D-Ribose is a sugar that gets produced by the human body or rather say body cells. Unlike normal sucrose or any artificial sugar, Ribose is an especial sugar found in a variety of foods. Generally, doctors suggest external Ribose dosages to heart patients as it’s known to improve heart function and help people obviate hearth disease and congestive heart failure. Now, here’s the question arises, is D-Ribose only good for all muscular energy or just the heart?

Ribose, good for whom?

Before answering the above question, have a look at the science behind the fact that Ribose is helpful to heart patients. Well, in simple terms, heart of the people, suffering from congestive heart failure works much harder compared to the heart of normal people. To pump blood harder, heart requires more energy and if it Doesn’t get the energy, it gets tired and also makes the body tired. This is where the external dosage of Ribose offsets the energy lost by the heart, and help it work properly.

Now, the answer to the question is, Ribose not only good for heart muscles, but also for other body muscles. D-Ribose health supplements or pills can be taken even by normal people as it can improve the body’s energy level significantly. More energy means less work for the heart, and less work for heart means more energetic and healthy life. Bodybuilders can consume D-Ribose to enhance their energy level and shorten their recovery period. People who want to prevent aging signs can also consume Ribose supplements to stay young for a longer period of time.

Where to purchase from?

D-Ribose is frequently found in energy drinks and health supplements. Actually natural foods don’t really contain free Ribose, hence health supplements or energy drinks become the best source of Ribose. Before purchasing any health supplement featuring Ribose, make sure you consult with an expert doctor. So, whether you are suffering from congestive heart failure or chronic fatigue or you just want to boost your energy before the gym workouts, consume a genuine D-Ribose health supplement daily to see the difference.

Astaxanthin Protects The Eye And More!

Subject: Astaxanthin Protects The Eye And More!

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid that is commonly found in the marine environment. It is naturally found in salmon, krill, trout, crayfish, shrimp, crustaceans and yeast. It is the chemical that is responsible for the red color in cooked shellfish and salmon meat. The algae Haematoccus has the richest natural source of astaxanthin.

Astaxanthin can also be produced synthetically, but due to the synthetic product consisting of different steriosmers it is not preferred to be used in some cases.

Unlike beta-carotene it has two more oxygenated groups on each of its ring structure, these additional functional groups make it a highly potent antioxidant and give it a configuration that is more polar than that of other carotenoids. Vitamin E has been known as the strongest antioxidant both in topical use in cosmetics and in internal use, but research has shown that astaxanthin has a greater antioxidant strength than Vitamin E. For example in the quenching of singlet oxygen it has an antioxidant strength five hundred times stronger than Vitamin E.

Unlike many other antioxidants it has the ability of crossing the blood-brain barrier and enter into the eyes, brain and central nervous system (CNS). Most diseases of the CNS and eye are caused by increased generation of free radicals or by a decrease in the ability to remove free radicals from the body. Some of the diseases that are caused by problems with inflammation and oxidation include Glaucoma, Cataracts, and Huntington’s disease. These can be prevented by taking astaxanthin.

It has anti-inflammatory properties that are related to its strong antioxidants properties. It suppresses some of the inflammatory mediators such as, prostaglandin E-2 (PGE-2), tumor necrosis factor –alpha (TNF-a), and nitric oxide. Unlike other anti-inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen that can damage the liver and aspirin that may cause stomach bleeding, astaxanthin Doesn’t have any side effects.

In people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome it has the ability of reducing pain. Studies have shown that it is able to reduce pain in rheumatoid arthritis by 40% after 8 weeks of continuous use.

It prevents Ultra Violet induces oxidative stress of the skin and prevents the photo aging of the skin. It prevents UV induced formation of wrinkles and collagen degradation in the skin. It may be applied on the skin or taken orally.

In people participating in sports it eliminates the soreness of joints after exercise, and reduces the pain caused by inflammation. This enables athletes to train harder and as a result increase their endurance, skill, and strength. This is through its ant-inflammatory and ant-oxidant effects in the mitochondria (energy producing organelle).

It strengthens the immune system, research by scientists has shown that it causes increase in production of T cells, stimulates the proliferation of lymphocytes, amplify the cytotoxicity of natural killer cells, decrease damage of DNA, and increases significantly delayed type hypersensitivity syndrome.

It prevents heart disease and reduces the risk of people already suffering from heart disease form getting a stroke or heart attack. It improves the blood lipid profiles by increasing HDL (high density lipoprotein) and decreasing LDL (low density lipoprotein).

The liver main function of the liver and kidney is the detoxification and removal of harmful substances in the body. These activities lead to the formation of free radicals. Astaxanthin being a strong antioxidant helps by destroying these free radicals hence it eliminates their oxidative effects.

As a result of its immune benefits Astaxanthin also has anti-tumor properties and as a result it prevents the development of cancer. Its prevention of cancer is also caused by its antioxidant properties and by it regulating gene expression.

LUTEIN

Subject: LUTEIN

LUTEINluteinfruit

Lutein is referred to as an antioxidant carotenoid which is simply a pigmented nutrient that is. How does Lutein helps the eyes. Lutein is responsible for the yellow colours found in fruits and vegetables. It is present in high quantities in leafy green vegetables such as kale, spinach, corn, orange juice, grapes, broccoli and yellow carrots and is dark in colour. Lutein is obtained by animals either directly or indirectly from plants and employed by them as an antioxidant and also for absorption of blue light. Each and every individual was born with a certain amount of lutein in your eye but it is not produced in the body.

Where is lutein found in the body

The region of the retina responsible for central vision is called the macula. This area is sensitive to blue light and upon exposure to too much light can cause damage to the eyes. Lutein helps to protect this damage by filtering blue light before it can cause damage to the macula.

Also it is evident that lutein in food protects against cataracts as well as macular degeneration that are the common eye disorders. Lutein together with another carotenoid called zeaxanthin form the yellow pigment found in the retina and absorbs blue light that is a harmful component of the sunlight. Lutein is also may help protect carotid arteries found on the neck from clogging which is an indication of atherosclerosis that is a disease that leads to heart attacks.

Conclusion

If you do not eat properly, the amount of lutein in the eyes may deplete as you age. Your body Doesn’t make lutein therefore it is recommended that you replace this through eating fruits and vegetables that are good sources of lutein. You can also get zeaxanthin in oranges, orange bell peppers, honeydew melon and also corn. Lutein and zeaxanthin works together and can also be found in egg yolks. Therefore to maintain that good vision always eat lots of fruits and vegetables and they will boost your vision.

Can I Increase Blood Oxygen With Periwinkle?
TopPreviousNext

Subject: Can I Increase Blood Oxygen With Periwinkle?

Overview

The body is made of different cells and all of them depend on oxygen for them to keep on living. It does make sense Doesn’t it? I mean, as human beings we live off oxygen, simply put, if we do not breathe in oxygen we die. We can find oxygen in the air around us and in fact that is the main source. Another thing that would tell you how important oxygen is to our body, just thinking requires us to have enough oxygen in the brain. That is why whenever someone is out of breath and unconscious for minutes the main concern is what damage will that time do to the brain when there is no oxygen travelling to it because the brain could not maintain its function without oxygen.

Blood Oxygen Levels

The levels of oxygen in our blood are related to how efficient our body is able to function. We have to understand that our cells run on oxygen and various health issues can arise with levels of blood oxygen being low. The good news though is that there are lot of different ways to build oxygen levels in the body. We have some natural ways that have been tested and proven to help. Firstly is to make sure we have foods high in antioxidants. These substances have been known for its health benefits and now we can also add to that list how it is able to initiate further release of oxygen from the blood.

Another one is by focusing on foods that are rich in Vitamin F because this vitamin helps the capacity of oxygen to hold haemoglobin which is important when trying to increase oxygen levels. Studies also have proven that constant exposure to fresh air and daily exercises are also beneficial as it aids in the increased capacity of our heart to pump blood which in turn will give more chances for your lungs to oxygenate blood, allowing once again for more oxygen to be used all throughout your body.

Perwinkle and blood oxygen levels

Periwinkle is primarily a ground hugging evergreen shrub and is known to be a native of Europe. It has shiny elliptical leaves and a five-petaled blue flower. Usually it is most abundant during spring and could be found in roadsides and is cultivated for use as a garden ornament all over Europe. The other variety is the Madagascar periwinkle which as its name suggest is a native of Madagascar. However in the modern world it is now common in the tropics and in many gardens around the world. Roots and the herbs are gathered in the summers.

Many studies have shown that periwinkle has the ability to increase blood flow and in turn aid in the increase of oxygen supply in the brain. In more severe scenarios it even has been used to aid in the relief of arteriosclerosis.
