Using Nettle Leaf Extract to Reduce Uric Acid Nettle leaf extract can be used to reduce the concentration of uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is a heterocyclic nitrogenous compound that is formed when your body breaks down purines, nitrogenous bases obtained from a diet rich in meat and meat products and also the yeast in beer.
