General Information and datasheet (Now)

How Olive Leaf Lowers Cholesterol Levels

Olive leaf is available in liquid concentrate, dried leaf tea, powder, or capsule format, and is used by many to help reduce their blood cholesterol levels. While cholesterol is an essential component in the biochemical synthesis of sex hormones, and is also an essential part of your body's chemistry in general, excessive LDL cholesterol can nevertheless be dangerous.

Cholesterol is not soluble in water, and so must use a carrier if it is to travel around your body in your bloodstream. These carriers are lipids, of which there are two types: low density and high density lipids (LDL and HDL). Low density lipids are easily oxidized by reactive oxygen species, or free radicals, this oxidation forcing them to fall out of solution, depositing the cholesterol in your arteries that can easily become blocked.

Olive leaf extract contains a substance known as oleuropein, a phenolic antioxidant that appears to act together with an as yet unknown synergist in the leaf to lower LDL cholesterol levels faster than just the pure oleuropein itself. Olive leaf also possesses hypoglycemic properties which have been found to be more powerful in the winter rather than the summer months. More scientific analysis off olive leaf will be required to explain many of its powerful medical and physiological effects, but there are no doubts as to its effectiveness in lowering LDL cholesterol levels
