Nature's Way 5-HTP (l-5-hydroxytryptophan) is a natural extract
of Griffonia simplicifolia beans. It has been combined with
Vitamin C and Vitamin B-6, an important cofactor in the
extract's conversion to seratonin. The tablets are easy to
swallow and enteric-coated to minimize any potential gastric
discomfort.
5-HTP is a precursor to seratonin, a mood and
appetite regulating neurotransmitter produced within the
body.
Each serving of 2 Tablets provides:
L-5
Hydroxytryptophan (griffonia bean extract) ------------- 100 mg
Vitamin B6, pyridoxineHCl
----------------------------------------- 20 mg
Vitamin C
(ascorbic acid) ------------------------------------------ 120
mg
Other ingredients: Cellulose, Gelatin, Maltodextrin,
Silica.
Directions:
Use under the guidance of a healthcare
practitioner. Start with a low dose of one tablet (50 mg.) taken
daily with a meal. Increase the dose slowly (every 3-5 days) up
to a maximum of four tablets taken daily (200 mg.) Total daily
intake should be divided into two or more doses, with no more
than two tablets per dose.
Warnings:
Some may experience
gastrointestinal (GI) upset, diarrhea or nausea while taking
this product which usually disappears by reducing dosage or is
minimized by taking with food. As with any supplement if
discomfort continues discontinue use. May cause drowsiness.
Should not be consumed by pregnant or lactating women. Those
using MAO-inhibitors, antidepressants, and drugs containing
fenfluramine should not use 5-HTP. Should not be consumed by
children. Those suffering from gut disorders such as ulcers,
irritable bowel disease, Crohn's disease, celiac disease.
