What is Phosphatidylcholine?
Phosphatidyl choline is a phospholipid with choline at its head - it is basically the same as lecithin, though the latter also contains other phospholipids. Phosphatidylcholine is vital to every cell in your body since it comprises a large proportion of the cell membrane - up to 90%, though reducing with age.
Because of this reduction with age from around 90% in infancy down to around 10% in the elderly, it is beginning to be recommended by some health and nutrition experts that the elderly take a daily supplement of phosphatidylcholine in an attempt to maintain memory and the function of the brain.
Phosphatidylcholine also helps to maintain liver function and may also help to promote a healthy cholesterol level in the blood. It is a supplement that the aging should consider due to the specific benefits it offers to them.

Phosphatidyl Choline is a principal component of cell membranes, found in virtually every cell in the body. In addition, it is an important precursor to the main neurotransmitter, acetylcholine.
