Solaray Magnesium and Potassium Asporotates with Bromelain (120 VegCaps)
If you suffer from stubborn nighttime leg cramps, muscle tightness after workouts, or daily fatigue, your body may be asking for two critical electrolytes: magnesium and potassium. While most drug-store supplements use cheap mineral salts that pass right through your gut unabsorbed, Solaray Magnesium and Potassium Asporotates with Bromelain delivers advanced, bioavailable mineral chelates paired with a natural pineapple digestive enzyme to ensure your cells actually absorb what you take.
Medical Review & Quality Standard: Formulated according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and third-party laboratory tested for identity, purity, and heavy metals. Minerals are bound to natural carrier acids (Asporotate™ chelate) for gentle, high-efficiency gastrointestinal uptake.
✓ 300 mg High-Absorption Magnesium
✓ 40 mg Gentle Potassium Buffer
✓ 140 mg Plant-Sourced Bromelain
✓ Hawthorn Berry & Rosemary Base
What Is “Asporotate™” and Why Does It Absorb Better?
The biggest problem with ordinary mineral supplements like magnesium oxide is that they do not dissolve well in your digestive tract. Instead of entering your bloodstream to relax tense muscles, they pull water into your colon and cause sudden digestive upset or loose stools.
Solaray solves this with Asporotate™ technology. An “asporotate” is not a chemical trick; it is an intelligent combination of three natural organic transporters that wrap around each mineral atom like a protective shuttle:
1. Aspartate (Aspartic Acid)
An amino acid transporter that assists minerals across cell membranes, supporting direct energy generation inside cellular powerhouses (mitochondria).
2. Citrate (Citric Acid)
An organic fruit acid known for its superior clinical solubility across varying stomach acidity levels, clinically documented to enhance systemic tissue uptake.
3. Orotate (Orotic Acid)
A key building block for cellular nucleotides that directs minerals toward hard-working muscle cells, especially cardiac muscle fibers.
By combining all three natural carriers into an equal blend, this formula provides superior bioavailability without overloading any single absorption pathway.
How Magnesium, Potassium, and Bromelain Work Together
Taking magnesium alone is often only half the answer. In human biochemistry, magnesium and potassium operate like interlocking gears inside what doctors call the Sodium-Potassium ATPase Pump.
1. Relief from Muscle Cramps & Twitches
When muscles contract, calcium rushes into the muscle fibers. For the muscle to relax, magnesium must push the calcium out, while potassium resets the electrical charge across the nerve endings. When you are low on either electrolyte, the muscle locks up into painful spasms, charley horses, or twitching eyelids.
2. Cardiovascular & Blood Pressure Support
Potassium balances the excess sodium commonly found in modern diets, helping blood vessel walls soften and relax. Magnesium prevents blood vessels from constricting, encouraging normal blood flow and supporting a steady heart rhythm.
3. The Bromelain Advantage: Absorption & Tissue Recovery
Bromelain is a plant-based proteolytic (protein-digesting) enzyme extracted from pineapple stems (standardized here to 1,800 MCU/g). It breaks down cellular protein debris around overworked joints and muscles, which soothes post-exercise inflammation while simultaneously speeding up mineral assimilation in the small intestine.
Special Botanical Base: Rosemary leaf and Hawthorn berry provide naturally occurring bioflavonoids traditionally utilized for botanical cardiovascular tonic support.
Suggested Use, Safety & Medical Precautions
Directions: Take 2 VegCaps daily with a meal or an 8-ounce glass of water. Because magnesium has a relaxing effect on musculoskeletal tissue, many people prefer taking their dose with dinner or 30 to 60 minutes before bed.
Important Clinical Cautions:
Kidney Function: Those with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or impaired renal clearance should consult a physician before using potassium or magnesium supplements, as the kidneys regulate blood levels of both minerals.
Blood Thinners & Medications: Bromelain possesses mild natural antiplatelet (blood-thinning) properties. Speak with your healthcare provider if you are taking prescription anticoagulants (such as warfarin) or ACE inhibitors.
Allergy Notice: Do not take if you have a known allergy to pineapple or other bromeliad plants.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there only 40 mg of potassium per serving?
Federal FDA regulations cap over-the-counter non-prescription potassium supplements at 99 mg (and manufacturers often formulate around 40–99 mg) to safeguard against rapid gastrointestinal lesions and sudden blood spikes. The 40 mg of potassium asporotate in this formula is specifically calibrated to act as an electrolyte cofactor, activating the cellular enzymes that allow 300 mg of magnesium to work without overwhelming your system.
Will this magnesium formula cause diarrhea or stomach cramps?
Unlike magnesium oxide, which has a laxative effect because it is poorly absorbed, the Asporotate™ form (aspartate, citrate, and orotate) is chelated to organic compounds that are readily absorbed into your bloodstream. Most people experience zero gastrointestinal distress when taken as directed with a meal or water.
What does bromelain do in a mineral supplement?
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme extracted from pineapple stems. It serves two distinct purposes in this formula: first, it aids gastrointestinal breakdown so the minerals are freed and absorbed faster; second, it supports muscle recovery and soothes inflammatory sensations in tired tissues after exercise.
When is the best time of day to take this product?
You can take it at any time with food, but many people find evening use with dinner or before bed most effective. Magnesium supports neurochemical pathways involved in GABA production, helping promote calm physical relaxation and easing nocturnal leg cramps while you sleep.

I've been trying to lose weight and of course being on my feet more and trying to exercise my legs and feet would just cramp up badly. I've been taking Magnesium & Potassium Asporotates for abou t two weeks or so, and the cramps are almost gone. And with more weight off I'm hoping the pains will just disappear with time. Great product is wonderful, especially while trying to lose a lot of weight. The pressure can be awful at times and this helps.
