Olive Leaf and Inflammation
Olive leaf contains powerful anti-inflammatories in the form of flavonoids, oleuropein, hydroxytyrosol and oleocanthal. These substances can moderate the effects of inflammation that lead to swelling, fluid build-up and pain in wounds and joints, leading to wounds that take long periods of time to heal and also arthritis in the joints. Among the many more symptoms of inflammation, are acne, gout, cystitis, digestive problems and others.
By moderating the generation of leukotrienes and prostaglandins that promote the formation of the various substances that lead to these inflammatory conditions, olive leaf can help to relieve their discomfort, improve wound healing and help to promote the healing of burns and other damaged tissues. Olive leaf can be taken as a supplement in the form of a powder, leaf tea, capsule or concentrated liquid extract, either alone or with Echinacea which is a powerful combination to support the immune system.
