Variety is the spice of life, or so the saying goes. Now, studies show that chili peppers may be the key to longer life. A research study was published in BMJ, and found that people who consumed spicy foods 6-7 days per week had a 14% decrease in mortality rates, compared to those who didn't. The risk is even lower if you stay away from alcohol. This is likely due to their active ingredient, capsaicin, with a host of benefits that include a decrease in appetite, obesity, and even cancer, as well as antibacterial activity. Perhaps its time to start experimenting with these peppers, and they're already found in a variety of Asian cuisines.
