ECHINACEA
Echinacea - Echinacea, also known as Purple Coneflower, has been used for centuries by Native American tribes as an herbal remedy. There are three common species; echinacea purpurea, e. angustifolia, and e. pallida. Echinacea supports the immune system through a variety of mechanisms that aid phagocytosis and T-cell production.* 2 Echinacea extracts are standardized to specific levels of marker compounds known to have immune enhancing effects. Caffeic acid derivatives (echinacosides), polysaccharides, polyacetylenes, alkylamides, and flavonoids are among the plant constituents with known activity. NOW® carries Echinacea in several different forms, including a 125mg Angustifolia product standardized to contain 4% echinacosides, our high-potency 400mg Purpurea root product, and several different liquid herbal extracts.

RHODIOLA Rhodiola - For hundreds of years Rhodiola has been used to support nervous system function, decrease depression and fatigue, and even help to prevent high altitude sickness. Rhodiola rosea is considered the most effective of over 200 different species of Rhodiola, 20 of which are currently used in Asian traditional medical systems. Rhodiola is classified as an adaptogen. It helps the body adjust to different stressors, and also helps the body to reassume homeostasis once the stressor is no longer present. Rhodiola certainly fits this criteria, having shown beneficial results against stressors such as fatigue and nervous tension, as well as anxiety due to different factors such as intense study and dieting.*5 NOW® Rhodiola is a potent 500mg standardized extract that contains 3% rosavins, the unique compounds that give Rhodiola rosea its amazing protective and antioxidant properties. This is the highest potency extract available!

MAITAKE MUSHROOM
Maitake Mushroom - Worth its weight in gold and health benefits, Maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa) was a well-guarded secret in ancient Japan. Areas where Maitake grew were jealously protected by mushroom hunters who discovered them; the secret was so valuable that even their own immediate family members were kept in the dark. Research has shown that Maitake mushrooms possess immunomodulatory benefits, supporting the production of interleukin-1 and the effectiveness of macrophages. Maitake also supports healthy body weight and supports cardiovascular function through healthy cholesterol metabolism.*4 In addition to our 60 mg Maitake Mushroom Extract, standardized to contain 25% polysaccharides, NOW® also carries a 270mg Rei-Shi Mushroom product.
