So much of what we do these days revolves around our good health and how well we can function efficiently when it comes to our daily activities, may it be doing your duties at work and making sure you responsibilities are met or maybe you’re a homemaker and need to make sure that the house is in order. Well, either way it always will be good to go through the day without any discomfort and one of the most common discomfort that we feel probably in our lifetime is stomach aches mainly because so many illnesses or minor imbalances in our body has this for a symptom. This is the situation that probiotics can help with or even alleviate totally.
Probiotics are known to be microorganisms much like bacteria or yeast that have a known medical use in improving health. I know that taking live bacteria in the first place sounds like something you do not want to do, after all we always have been taught to stay away from places that have a lot of bacteria as these “dirty places” can cause disease and a variety of illnesses. So in a way the pessimism is understandable however we also need to be open to the idea that there are good and bad bacteria.
Probiotics is an example of such good bacteria. Throughout human evolution our body has consistently teamed up with these microorganisms to improve or maintain our bodily functions. Our digestive system has long been home to hundreds of different species of bacteria. Many studies has shown that most digestive problems are caused by an imbalance and the over powering of bad bacteria of the good bacteria in the stomach and that is why it is important for us to entertain the notion that there is a need for probiotic supplementation.
Probiotics in the Colon
Probiotics have had a long standing relation with our colon and in recent years it has been further cemented that probiotics can help with colon cleansing and with the growing concern and knowledge about the reality of colon disorders mainly colon cancer the importance of probiotics have been placed in the forefront even more. It has shown to improve the colon’s lining and maintain its health aside from having cleansing properties and there a different types and literally hundreds of them but we will just focus on a couple which are most well known and in a way are considered the main types of probiotics.
Types of Probiotics
Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Saccharomyces, Streptococcus and some others that does not fall under these main categories. The most famous among all probiotics is Lactobacillus Acidophilus and as a testament to its potency, most health practitioners that are unsure of the specific probiotic needed for a disease or illness would recommend L Acidophilus. It is still helpful to note though that for any specific ailments it would be best to consult your doctor for recommendations as to what type should you start using.
