Energy drinks are known for their high caffeine levels, but they also contain high levels of B vitamins and Niacin. In Erin Elizabeth's article, she claims that a man who drank about 5 of these energy drinks a day ended up in the hospital with acute hepatitis. She claims that the man took in so much niacin, that it built up and became toxic.
