Five Key Benefits of Bladderwrack

Bladderwrack is a type of brown algae (seaweed), popularly known for its high iodine content. This herb grows along the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts as well as the shores of North Sea. It was first discovered in 1811, where it was used to alleviate goiter. It's also very common in Japan where it's included in the Japanese diet.

Besides iodine which is highly beneficial for thyroid function, bladderwrack also contains fucoidan and alginic acid which have a variety of attributes that can offer notable benefits to your health. Here are some of the benefits of bladderwrack.

#Benefits of Bladderwrack

*Skin Care

The minerals and nutrients in this herbal seaweed can aid in nourishing and cleansing the skin. By flushing out the toxins, bladderwrack combats skin conditions such as dryness and excess fluid retention. The fucoidan component of bladderwrack has anti-aging properties that promote the retention and growth of collagen as well as improve skin elasticity.

*Thyroid Stimulation

The iodine in bladderwrack helps in promoting thyroid function. It thus helps the body to combat conditions such as hypothyroidism and goiter. It can also be used to eliminate cellulite and obesity as it increases the rate of metabolism.

*Joint pain Relief

Bladderwrack has anti-inflammatory properties which help in relieving joint pains that often accompany rheumatoid arthritis. Additionally, it contains carotene, fucoidan, bromine and mannitol; vital nutrients that promote joint health and the development of healthy bones.

*Digestion

The alginic in bladderwrack is a fiber which aids in digestion. There are individuals who take this herb to alleviate constipation or diarrhea. Some use it to get rid of heartburn.

*Lower Cancer Risk

According to Nutri-Herb, the fucoidan in this seaweed can help in regulating blood cholesterol levels and thus benefit the cardiovascular system. Fucoidan also offers an array of anti-tumor and anti-angiogenic benefits that help in slowing down the growth of cancerous cells. You can purchase bladderwrack capsules from drug and natural vitamin stores and enjoy the afore-mentioned benefits.
