Applications: Baldness, depression, dermatitis, eczema, leg cramps.
Scientific Data: New research has found that people on dialysis saw significant improvement in neurological disorders they suffered as a result of the treatment by using biotin supplementation.
Depleting Agents: Raw egg whites, sulfa drugs, saccharin, rancid fats, refined foods, estrogen, white sugar, alcohol. Note: The presence of seborrheic dermatitis in infants may indicate a biotin deficiency.
Sources: Organ meats, soybeans, cheese, mushrooms, eggs, cauliflower, nuts, whole wheat.
Interactions: This vitamin works in tandem with other B-vitamins as well as with carnitine and coenzyme Q10.
Recommendations: You can obtain this vitamin as biocytin from yeast sources or as simple biotin. If you suspect food or other type of allergies, stay away from yeast sources.
