Subject: Andrographis

Dear Friends,

I believe there’s an essential herb that everyone should be aware of, though not to many realize the powerful benefits of this near miracle botanical. This one nutrient has the ability to strengthen the immune system while also enhancing cardiovascular health, liver and kidney function, joint mobility, and much more. Recent studies have shown this herb to be three times more effective than milk thistle for liver health. And while I know there’s no miracle supplement, that can prevent all disease, there are a growing number of studies to show that this herb can promote overall health and well-being in a tremendous way.

This herb, which I respect and hold in high regard, is andrographis. I believe it’s the next up-and-coming superstar in botanical medicine, and for good reason. I am not yet at liberty to give you the full details on a recent study, but I can tell you the results are impressive. The study involved treating three different groups of animals that had cancerous tumors. One group of animals was treated with curcumin, the second group was treated with french grape seed extract, and the third group was treated with andrographis. And while all three herbs were beneficial in this study, andrographis proved to be the most effective in reducing the cancerous tumors in the animals. I can’t wait to share the study details when it’s published.

It’s no wonder that andrographis has been used in natural medicine for years, due to its powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, cancer-preventive, neuroprotective, and immune-stimulating properties. In fact, andrographis is the subject of over 800 studies in the National Institute of Health’s PubMed online database, with more to come!

You’ll learn how this amazing herb:

  • Strengthens immune defenses
  • Stops Viruses and resistant bacteria
  • Protects the liver
  • Prevents tumors and cell damage
  • Soothes digestive disorders
  • Prevents pain, inflammation, and arthritis symptoms
  • Supports energy and resilience
  • Protects heart and arteries

And the benefits don’t stop there. Please take the time to read more at TerryTalksNutrition.com

Subject: New research on vitamin K suggests that it may promote eye health

According to a recent Belgian study, vitamin K protects the arteries that supply the ocular organs with blood and acts as a shield against damaging calcification. The researchers found that vitamin K is beneficial for eye health in that it protects the optic nerves from possible optic damage due to glaucoma. The researchers were trying to determine if there was a link to vitamin K deficiency and poor eye health. This study points to a need for more research into the molecular pathways affected by vitamin and the benefits of vitamin K supplementation.

Key Takeaways:

  • A new health benefit for Vitamin K has been observed by Belgian researchers and they report that the vitamin protects the eyes from human calcification.
  • The study spanned the course of 11 years and it involved the participation of 1,000 flemish adults who were randomly selected and were in their 40s.
  • Vitamin K levels and the levels of active Matrix Gla proteins (MGP) were evaluated. The MGP proteins were responsible for preventing calcification to take place in the arteries.

"Based on their findings, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) researchers observed that taking vitamin K supplements could help maintain the health of the eyes by protecting the optic nerves from injury caused by glaucoma."

It turns out that a lack of vitamin C in your diet can severely inhibit your body’s ability to absorb and use vitamin E. Vitamin E is important to a variety of cellular functions, as well as preventing heart disease and preventing arteries from becoming stiff and hard. The vast majority of Americans don’t eat enough vitamin E, and the situation is made worse by inadequate vitamin C consumption, since vitamin C protects and complements vitamin E. Good sources of these vitamins include kale, apples, carrots and walnuts, as well as supplements.

Key Takeaways:

  • Vitamin E deficiency might be uncommon because it is estimated to affect only 0.1 percent of the population but that is still substantial when one does the maths.
  • There is another twist to the Vitamin E deficiency puzzle because it has been found that Vitamin C can affect the body’s ability to absorb Vitamin E.
  • Vitamin E boasts a lot of health benefits for people who take it in their diets including fighting off inflammation and reducing the risk of heart disease.

"Plus, even if clinically-definable deficiencies are uncommon, too many people are still missing out on the key health benefits of vitamin E because they get insufficient amounts of it in their diet."

Subject: Cooking with the "stinking rose": The 7 health benefits of garlic

Garlic has a wide range of both culinary and health benefits. It can reduce multiple different risk factors for cardiac disease, including the speed of atherosclerotic plaque formation in the arteries, blood pressure, triglycerides and plasma viscosity. Cumulatively, garlic can reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke by close to 50 percent. Garlic also has formidable antimicrobial properties against a wide range of pathogens, and may help control colds. It also helps remove lead from the body, too.

Key Takeaways:

  • Garlic has a wide array of heart benefits, including effects related to arteriosclerosis prevention, plasma viscosity, blood pressure and more.
  • Multiple studies indicate that aged garlic extract can reduce the buildup of white fat around the heart area in favor of the more dynamic brown fat that poses a lower risk of calcification.
  • Garlic also has superb antimicrobial capabilities against a wide range of pathogens, and may even be able to help you kick a cold.

"Moreover, the aforementioned four-year German study revealed that consumption of garlic powder every day reduced the volume of arteriosclerotic plaque by as much as 18 percent."

Subject: Vitamin K2 promotes healthy arteries and cardiovascular protection

Vitamin K2 may help protect you against becoming one of the 17 million people estimated to die from heart disease this year. Vitamin K2 helps to moderate how much calcium builds up in the body and where. This is significant because the calcification of plaque-narrowed arteries plays a major role in heart disease. Vitamin K2 can help ensure that your body’s calcium supply stays in your bones and out of your arteries and other soft tissue, and can reduce your risk of heart disease by 50 percent or more.

Key Takeaways:

  • The number one cause of death and illness worldwide is attributed to heart disease and it is estimated to cause about 17 million deaths each year.
  • Artherosclerosis, or the accumulation of calcified deposits in the arteries, has been known by researchers to be a major cause of heart disease.
  • Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting and the maintenance of bone density. It is found in two forms in the body – Vitamin K1, and Vitamin K2.

"In one study, daily consumption of more than 32 micrograms of dietary vitamin K2 reduced the risk of arterial calcification and death from heart disease – by an incredible 50 percent."

Subject: 5 ways aged garlic can slash your risk of heart disease

Aged garlic may be remarkably effective at protecting you from heart disease, the number one killer of Americans over the last eight decades. Aged garlic extract can help protect your arteries from low-attenuation (or “soft”) plaque, even if you work in a high-stress field. Aged garlic can also help counter and neutralize the effects of C-Reactive Protein and Interleukin, both associated with the inflammation linked to cardiac disease. Aged garlic can also help prevent harmful blood clots, and may also moderate your blood pressure.

Key Takeaways:

  • It is estimated that heart disease has maintained it role as the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States for 80 years.
  • There are a lot of studies on garlic, about 900, that show that garlic can be used as a natural treatment for heart disease.
  • A study that involved 55 participants that were between the ages 40 to 75 was used to discover that aged garlic reduced the amount of soft plaque in arteries.

"However, as unlikely as it sounds, an extract from an everyday kitchen staple – garlic – has the potential to drastically cut your odds of becoming a medical statistic."

Subject: Aged garlic is incredibly good for your heart

Natural compounds found in aged garlic can be very beneficial to cardiac health. For example, a 2016 Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute study on subjects with metabolic syndrome found that aged garlic extract reduced both the accumulation of new plaque within the arteries and the total amount of plaque present as well. Additional research suggests that aged garlic extract can help reduce C-reactive protein and interleukin levels. The polysulfides in garlic also support greater production of the nitric oxide that helps keep your blood vessels supple, reducing another cardiac risk factor.

Key Takeaways:

  • Aged garlic has several health benefits to the cardiovascular system.
  • As heart disease effects many Americans, eating aged garlic can reduce the risk in 80% of the population.
  • Aged garlic reverses the effects of C protein, which is known to cause inflammation throughout the body.

"The LA BioMed researchers concluded that garlic not only decreased the amount of plaque in the arteries. The extract also stopped new plaque from appearing in the blood vessels. (Related: Aged garlic extract balances your cholesterol levels, study finds.)"

Matcha is a powdered form of green tea derived from the Camelia sinensis plant and prized for its health benefits. Matcha is full of antioxidants and catechism that can help protect the health of your heart and arteries while keeping your cholesterol in check. Several clinical trials in both elderly people and the general population suggest that matcha can improve cognitive functioning. Matcha can also help you to lose weight by accelerating the rate at which your body burns calories.

Key Takeaways:

  • Although matcha tea is derived from, the same source as green tea, matcha tea is processed literally into a powder, which is what the name of the tea means.
  • Inflammation and oxidative stress, triggered by free radicals in the body, is significantly minimized by matcha tea, because it contains EGCG.
  • A 2014 University study used elderly participants to show that three months of regular consumption of matcha tea boosted the elderly participant's brain power.

"Matcha can even support a stable metabolism, keep the mind sharp and lift the mood, and purge toxins from the body."

Subject: Omega-3 supplementation lessens symptoms of depression in peoplewith chronic heart failure

A study based in America called "Journal of the American College of Cardiology" has recently released information that points to how omega-3 fatty acids have the ability to improve health outlooks for those suffering from chronic cardiovascular failure known as congestive heart failure. Regular consumption of omega-3 fatty acids have not only shown to positively contribute to remedying cardiovascular issues, but it has also shown to reduce stress, depression, and other psychological issues that many patients face.

Key Takeaways:

  • The condition wherein the heart fails to sufficiently pump blood is called chronic heart failure and is a result of the accumulation of excess fats in the arteries.
  • Many people are now suffering from chronic heart failure because their lifestyle which involves fast food, stress, and sedentary lifestyle contributes to this.
  • The prevalence of chronic heart failure is worrisome because its existence increases the risk of other conditions such as depression, kidney, or liver damage.

"Omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for overall health, are now associated with improved symptoms of depression in patients with chronic heart failure."

What's The Difference Between Niacin And Niacinamide
TopPreviousNext

Date: December 19, 2018 08:31 AM
Author: Darrell Miller (support@vitanetonline.com)
Subject: What's The Difference Between Niacin And Niacinamide

When it comes to Vitamin B3, not all forms of Niacin are created equally. Aside from the risk of allergens and impurities, there are also separate forms with critical distinctions. The pure form is made solely of nicotinic acid which causes the flushing effect when it is taken by humans. The flushing effect is a redness that starts in the face and expands outwards through the rest of the body. It can make the skin feel warm, dry, and itchy for half an hour. The flushing effect is associated with vascular dilation that helps open up the tiny capillaries and blood vessels to clean out all the toxic junk they may have accumulated.

Nicotinic Acid Lowers Cholesterol

Nicotinic acid is also associated with increasing HDL levels in the body to prevent heart disease and plaques from accumulating on the interior walls of arteries. Nicotinic acid is also known to lower the LDL and VLDL bad cholesterols that clog up arteries and lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Other Benefits of Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 plays a critical role in building enzymes that help us carry out over 200 physical functions in the body. It is not produced naturally but is absorbed from foods such as yeast, green vegetables, milk, eggs, legumes, and fish. Aside from cardiovascular health, it plays a critical role in nervous health and sex hormone production.

How Does Niacinamide Differ?

Niacinamide is a water-soluble form of Niacin that is used to treat deficiencies or for therapies when patients need to take higher doses regularly to treat pellegra and the deficiencies that lead to it. When an excess of Niacin is built up in the body, your body may store it in this form. The chief distinction between this water-soluable hybrid and nicotinic acid is the effect on cholesterol and vascular dilation. Although flushing can be reduced by taking nicotinic acid daily and building up a tolerance to the effects, it is harder on the liver and more burdensome on the body to metabolize it in the high doses used for therapy of many illnesses: ADHD, Schizophrenia, nervous problems, migraines, and arthritis, among others. It is the preferred choice for maintaining a consistent and steady level of Vitamin B3 in the body and loaded into many beauty and skin products for women.

What Other Forms Can I Take?

You can take any form of the vitamin on a daily basis or supplement it with nicotinic acid when you need some additional flushing effect. You will notice that Niacinamide causes some symptoms of drying and itching that are similar to flushing when you take it in high doses. The no-flush formulation is called inositol hexanicotinate and made up from Vitamins B3 and Inositol Vitamin B8. The inositol acts as an additional buffer that makes inositol hexanicotinate easy to digest and take 1600 mg without side-effects: nausea, itching, flushing, dizziness, gout, liver damage, diabetes. Although multi-vitamin formulas and even fortified foods like breakfast shakes and cereals suggest that you are getting a full dose of B3 in each serving, this is very unlikely. The better choice is to take specifically formulated capsules rather than multivitamins if you are using it for therapeutic reasons.

How to Lower Cholesterol Naturally … in 28 Simple (!) Steps

There are all kinds of natural tricks for reducing your bad cholesterol. Too much of this bad cholesterol, or low-density lipoprotein, can increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. A diet with less bad cholesterol or more good cholesterol (aka high density lipoprotein) can reduce your overall level of bad cholesterol and the resulting plaque in your blood vessels. Olive oil, nuts, seeds and salmon are all full of good cholesterol. Another potential avenue to explore is foods like turmeric or garlic that help with the smashing inflammation associated with plaque buildup.

Key Takeaways:

  • Low density lipoprotein, or bad cholesterol, can build up as plaques in your arteries and increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
  • High density lipoprotein is a good form of cholesterol found in nuts, seeds and olive oil.
  • Limiting your intake of sugar, refined carbohydrates and alcohol can help to keep your bad cholesterol levels within healthy parameters.

"There are tons of natural remedies out there for how to lower cholesterol levels, often promising quick results with next to no effort required on your part. But while it’s true that there are tons of options to keep cholesterol levels in check, it can actually be as simple as swapping out a few foods in your diet for healthier options, switching up your workout routine or adding a supplement or two into the mix."

High quality teas, such as green tea, can help with anti-aging and reducing plaque in your arteries, in your heart and brain. Polyphenols account for this, the strongest being EGCG. Because of these compounds, tea helps to lower blood pressure and protect your heart. Green tea provided the best results. The ideal number of cups to drink is four per day. Other benefits of tea include lowered cancer risk, weight loss, lowered risk of type 2 diabetes, reduced pain and inflammation associated with RA, and protection against eye diseases, and genital and anal warts, to name a few.

Key Takeaways:

  • Green tea has several anti-aging agents and can help fight disease.
  • Green tea can also even shield your heart and deter plaque in your heart and brain.
  • It also decreases your cancer and diabetes 2 risk and helps with weight loss.

Vitamin K: The anti-aging supplement you probably haven’t heard about

The yen to look younger than our actual years can be seen in the veritable arsenal of age-fighting cosmetics on the retail market. But, the search doesn't end there. The quest extends to supplements and other organic elements. One factor that can be a potent ally in the fight to stay younger looking may be easily overlooked. That element is vitamin K.

It's probable that vitamin K gets overlooked because most people think of vitamin K as the blood-clotting factor, which it is, one type. The fact is there is a second type of the vitamin that works to prevent excessive buildup of calcium in the epidermis. This prevents wrinkles and boosts skin elasticity. Japanese women were the subject of a study wherein this was conclusively shown.

The Japanese population studied consumed a lot of traditional fermented soy beans. Fermented foods are the primary source of the calcium-constraining vitamin, just as leafy greens are the usual food sources of the blood-clotting variant of the vitamin.

Key Takeaways:

  • Vitamin K2 is a water-soluble vitamin found in fermented foods that promotes healthy absorption and distribution of calcium, including preventing too much from building up under the skin.
  • Vitamin K helps promote production of metric GLA protein, which directs calcium into the bones and away from arteries and helps prevent varicose veins.
  • You can find Vitamin K in chicken, egg yolk, butter, cheese and natto, a common Japanese dish of fermented soybeans.

"But epidemiological evidence suggests that diet has more influence on how we look than we realize"

How green tea could help prevent heart attacks

Scientists from the University of Leeds and Lancaster University have discovered that epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a compound found in green tea, can bind to and dissolve or break up amyloid protein deposits. Amyloid is the key causative agent in Alzheimer’s, but it is also found in atherosclerotic plaques, and the impact of EGCG can therefore help reduce plaque inside the arteries. While this research is promising, the body destroys most of the EGCG it ingests, and the absorption and transport of the molecule is highly inefficient, suggesting more research on delivery of ECGC is needed.

Key Takeaways:

  • Green tea is noted for its ability to aid in weight loss and building up immunity.
  • Now, University researchers are finding that the tea has a substance that could aid in breaking up dangerous plaque in human arteries.
  • Already under review for its possible ability to reduce amyloid plaques in the brain, the substance appears to have an ameliorating affect on fatty deposits in the blood vessels as well.

"Green tea could be key to help prevent deaths from heart attacks and strokes caused by atherosclerosis."

Subject: Is the water you're drinking linked to causing heart attacks and cancer?

Water chlorination has been the cheapest method of disinfection for over a century. Chlorine efficiently disinfects large quantities of water. It is generally used to prevent outbreaks such as salmonella, and can even inactivate the human norovirus. For these reasons, the EPA classifies chlorine as a pesticide. Even though chlorine is an effective pesticide, on a grand scale, it is hard to measure how quickly microorganisms learn to evolve and resist the persistent use of this chemical. Could widespread dependence on chlorine contribute to accelerated microbial resistance?

Key Takeaways:

  • Chlorinated water may be causing health problems, such as cancer and hardened arteries.
  • Chlorine combines with other compounds in water and create trihalomethanes, which cause cellular damage in the body.
  • Filtering water can remove chlorine and reduce damage to people's health.

Subject: What does a heart attack feel like? Symptoms could be mistaken for indigestion

Most forms of cardiovascular disease are due to a buildup of fatty deposits in arteries. This prevents the body from getting oxygen to the heart, which can cause a stroke or heart attack. Many have heard that a heart attack presents with pain in the left arm, but not everyone has the same symptoms. Most often, there is tightness in the chest that can spread to the neck, shoulders, and jaw. If a person with diabetes has a heart attack, however, nerve damage can cause less of the pain to be felt and they shrug it off as indigestion.

Key Takeaways:

  • The most common symptom of a heart attack is an uncomfortable tightness or heaviness in the chest, rather than a sharp stabbing pain.
  • Elderly people and those living with diabetes can often experience quite vague symptoms, similar to indigestion.
  • Excessive alcohol consumption can directly damage your heart and also increase blood pressure.

"The most important thing is to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and be physically active. I recommend doing some form of exercise for at least 30 minutes at a time, ideally five times a week."

Subject: What are heart failure, heart attack and cardiac arrest?

Though all types of heart trouble pose emergency threats to people's health, there are many differences between them in terms of both causes and symptoms. "Heart failure" refers to some loss of the heart's successful function as a pump; "congestive heart failure" applies more specifically to when blood flow has backed up, causing the swelling of veins. A "heart attack" occurs when blood flow to the heart is cut off - sometimes, this is caused by a spasm. But if the heart suddenly stops beating, that is a "cardiac arrest", and is a problem with the timed electrical signals that make the heart contract.

Key Takeaways:

  • Singer George Michael passed away on Christmas Day, at age 53.
  • His manager, Michael Lippman, cited heart failure as the cause of death.
  • If Michael's heart not only failed but also stopped beating entirely, he would have had minutes for doctors to intervene.

"Blockages causing heart attacks are mostly caused by a buildup of plaque in the arteries."
