Subject: The Kidneys and Your Health: Everything You Need to Know
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that sit in the lower back, on either side of the spine. They play a vital role in your health, filtering toxins from the blood and regulating fluid balance in the body. We will discuss everything you need to know about the kidneys, including common kidney problems and how to keep them healthy!
What are the common kidney problems
The kidneys are a pair of organs that filter waste products from the blood and excrete them in urine. They are also responsible for regulating fluid and electrolyte balance in the body. Kidney problems can range from mild to severe, and can be acute or chronic. Common kidney problems include kidney stones, urinary tract infections, and Nephrotic Syndrome. Kidney stones are small, hard deposits that form in the kidney when there is an imbalance of minerals in the urine. Urinary tract infections occur when bacteria enter the urinary system and multiply. Nephrotic Syndrome is a kidney disorder that causes the body to excrete large amounts of protein in the urine.Kidney problems can often be treated with medication, but in some cases, surgery may be necessary. Early diagnosis and treatment is important to prevent serious complications.
Acute renal failure
Acute renal failure is a sudden onset of kidney failure that can be life-threatening. The kidneys are responsible for filtering waste from the blood and balancing fluids in the body. When they are not working properly, waste can build up in the blood and cause serious health problems. Acute renal failure can be caused by a number of factors, including dehydration, infection, and certain medications. Symptoms include decreased urine output, swelling, fatigue, and confusion. If left untreated, acute renal failure can lead to coma and death. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential for a successful outcome.
Chronic renal failure
Chronic renal failure, or CRF, is a serious medical condition that affects the kidneys. In this condition, the kidneys become damaged and unable to function properly. As a result, toxins can build up in the body, causing a variety of symptoms. Some of these symptoms may include fatigue, bloating and swelling, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, poor appetite, changes in urination frequency or color, and anemia. Diagnosing CRF involves examining several factors like blood test results and overall medical history. Treatment for the condition typically involves managing any associated symptoms with medication or dietary changes. In some cases, dialysis may also be necessary to support patients with severe CRF. Overall, chronic renal failure is a serious but manageable condition that requires careful monitoring and management by patients and their healthcare providers.
Renal artery stenosis
Renal artery stenosis refers to a condition in which one or more of the arteries that deliver blood to the kidneys becomes narrowed or blocked. This can lead to a number of adverse health effects, including increased blood pressure, chronic kidney failure, and possibly even heart attack or stroke. While there are a number of possible causes for this condition, including genetic factors, certain lifestyle choices such as smoking can also increase the risk of developing renal artery stenosis. Fortunately, treatments are available for this condition, including medications and medical procedures like angioplasty. For those who are diagnosed with renal artery stenosis, early and effective treatment is essential for maintaining overall health and wellbeing.
Renal cancer
Renal cancer begins in the kidneys, which are a pair of bean-shaped organs that filter waste from the blood and produce urine. The most common type of renal cancer is clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC), which accounts for about three-quarters of all cases. RCC typically affects middle-aged adults and is more common in men than women. Other types of renal cancer include papillary renal cell carcinoma, chromophobe renal cell carcinoma, and collecting duct carcinoma. Treatment for renal cancer may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy. The type of treatment will depend on the stage of the cancer and the patient's overall health. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential for the best possible outcome.
Polycystic kidney disease
Polycystic kidney disease, or PKD, is a complex condition that affects the kidneys and other organs in the body. This disorder occurs when small cysts grow in the kidneys, gradually interfering with their ability to filter waste products from the blood. As these cysts start to expand, they can cause a number of severe symptoms such as high blood pressure, chronic pain, nausea and fatigue. In some cases, PKD also results in serious complications such as renal failure or a stroke. However, there are treatments available that can help people manage this disorder and slow its progression over time. By working closely with a medical team and making lifestyle changes to support kidney health, it is possible for people living with PKD to have long and healthy lives.
Urinary tract infection
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection that can occur in any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra. UTIs are most commonly caused by bacteria, but they can also be caused by fungi or viruses. Symptoms of a UTI may include pain or burning during urination, increased frequency or urgency of urination, cloudy or blood-tinged urine, and pelvic pain. If left untreated, a UTI can lead to serious complications, such as kidney damage or sepsis. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential for preventing serious health problems. UTIs are typically diagnosed through urinalysis, which can detect the presence of bacteria or other organisms in the urine. Treatment usually involves antibiotics to kill the infection-causing bacteria. In some cases, hospitalization may be necessary to treat a severe UTI. Additionally, drinking plenty of fluids and emptying the bladder frequently can help to flush out bacteria and prevent reinfection. Wiping from front to back after using the restroom can also help to reduce the risk of UTI development. Avoiding masturbation devices would good idea if you get frequent urinary tract infections because they can introduce new bacteria into the urethra.
UTI and D-Mannose
A urinary tract infection, or UTI, is a common medical condition that can cause symptoms such as painful urination, abdominal discomfort, and sometimes even fever. While conventional treatments typically involve antibiotics, these medications often come with unwanted side effects like nausea and diarrhea. Fortunately, there is another alternative in the form of D-Mannose, a naturally-occurring sugar that has been shown to help treat UTIs by eliminating bacterial biofilms and relieving symptoms. Unlike antibiotics, which can damage gut health by killing off beneficial bacteria along with the harmful ones, D-Mannose does not disrupt this critical ecosystem. As a result, D-Mannose is becoming an increasingly popular treatment for UTIs, offering an effective and safe alternative to antibiotics.
Kidney stones
Kidney stones are one of the most painful medical conditions to experience. These small, hard deposits form when there is an imbalance in the levels of certain minerals in the body. As they grow larger, kidney stones can cause severe pain as they move through the urinary tract. Treatment typically involves drinking plenty of fluids and taking pain medication. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the kidney stone. Prevention is the best way to avoid kidney stones, and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle is the best way to do this. Drinking plenty of fluids, especially water, and eating a diet high in fiber can help to prevent kidney stones from forming.
Glomerulonephritis
Glomerulonephritis is a serious kidney condition that occurs when the tiny filtration units in the kidneys, known as glomeruli, become inflamed and damaged. This can disrupt normal kidney function, causing a buildup of waste products in the bloodstream, resulting in numerous symptoms such as swelling and joint pain. While there is no cure for glomerulonephritis, treatment options can help to reduce inflammation and manage symptoms. These may include medications to control blood pressure or reduce harmful inflammatory chemicals, along with lifestyle changes to support overall kidney health. With proper medical care and close monitoring, many people with glomerulonephritis are able to live healthy lives despite this chronic condition.
Kidney disease is a serious condition that can lead to a variety of health problems. If you have kidney disease, it is important to monitor your symptoms and seek medical treatment as soon as possible. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to managing kidney disease, but by working with your healthcare team and following their recommendations, you can help improve your health and quality of life. Remember, knowledge is power, so be sure to educate yourself about kidney disease and its treatment options. With the right information and support, you can live a full and productive life despite this serious condition.

Subject: Shiitake mushrooms are a powerful medicinal superfood
A new study has found that adding fermented shiitake mushroom to rice bran is effective in inhibiting the growth of Salmonella typhimurium. The study was conducted on mouse organs and it was published in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine. This formulation has been hailed as a new antimicrobial food-compatible formulation. The study was conducted on murine macrophage cells and in mice. Before this, it was known that the bioactive compounds in rice brans and in shiitake mushrooms have a lot of potential health benefits in mice, cells, and rodents. When the mycelia cells were compared against non-fermented ones, it was found that the bioactive compounds present in the fermented shiitake mushrooms could not be found in the ones that had not fermented. Further findings showed that the pathogen, Salmonella, was inhibited in infected macrophage cells and in organs in the mouse such as the cecum, mesenteric lymph node, spleen, and the liver. Another finding was that there was increased secretion of the bacteria in the feces in mouse. Overall, this findings show that fermented shiitake mushrooms with rice brans can be used as an antibiotic and antimicrobial food. - To carry out the study a team of researchers from Korea and the US tried to understand the effect of shiitake mushroom with rice bran on macrophage cells.
- The component produced in rice plants are bioactive rice brans and hulls while that produced by mushrooms are bioactive polysaccharides and other compounds.
- When mushroom mycelia that was fermenting with rice bran cells were inspected it was found that they have bioactive compounds that are absent in the non-fermenting mycelia.

Subject: Women with acute uncomplicated cystitis can benefit from green tea
The health benefits of green tea have long been praised by scientists and health practitioners, and new research actually adds to the current body of knowledge regarding green tea. Recently, it has been found that green tea can aid in the symptoms of acute cystitis. Acute cystitis is categorized as inflammation in the bladder that is prompted by bacterial infection. Green tea has antimicrobial effects, which can help reduce symptoms of acute cystitis with the exception of blood in the urine. Other health benefits of green tea include weight loss, the prevention of cancer, lowering of stroke risk, and improved memory function. - Acute cystitis, which affects many women, is a fast onset inflammation of the bladder, usually the result of a bacterial infection.
- Recently, the publication, Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice printed data linking cystitis with the use of green tea.
- Green tea's efficacy against cystitis makes sense, because green tea has catechins that have antimicrobial effect against the E-coli bacteria.
"For this study, researchers from Kerman University of Medical Sciences in Iran carried out a blinded randomized trial to assess the efficacy of green tea as adjunctive therapy to standard antimicrobial treatment in women with acute uncomplicated cystitis." Pomegranates have long been recognized for their beautiful red seeds that present in a much more vibrant light than many other fruits. Now researchers are finding that pomegranates have several health benefits, especially when it comes to treating chronic inflammatory conditions. A study performed on mice showed that the inflammation biomarkers present within their systems were dramatically reduced when they were given pomegranate extract on a continual basis, showing that it could have a similar impact on humans. - One of the healthiest foods on the planet, pomegranates, was used by researchers to treat malaria-induced injury using an oxidative stress murine-model.
- The researchers infected the laboratory mice with Plasmodium chabaudi, a species that causes malaria, and then fed the mice extracts of pomegranates.
- Apart from the fact that the mice treated with pomegranates extract had fewer spleen injuries, there were lower numbers of inflammation biomarkers in them.
"Scientists from King Saud University concluded that pomegranates can boost the immune system and treat diseases such as malaria." Read more: https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-01-27-easily-boost-your-immune-system-with-pomegranates.html

Subject: Do Probiotics Help With UTIs For Women?
Probiotics has been a recurring buzzword in healthcare the past few years. In her new article, Danielle Granger focuses on utilizing probiotics to help aid in the healing of urinary tract infections. She outlines the symptoms of UTIs, a description of what probiotics are, how they could potentially help with treating UTIs and possible ways in which to ingest them. As with all supplements and health advice, please ensure to consult a doctor when changing your routine as this article does not provide any recent scientific studies. - Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a broad category of infections involving the urethra, bladder and other parts of the urological system.
- UTIs create many very uncomfortable symptoms, including a constant, strong urge to urinate followed by painful urination that produces a small amount of often cloudy urine.
- Probiotics can crowd out bad bacteria and strengthen the overall health of your digestive and immune systems, making you less susceptible to UTIs.
"There have been many studies into ways to help women who experience recurrent UTIs, but one area which has been focused upon is whether probiotics could actually help with UTIs in women especially." Read more: https://thefrisky.com/do-probiotics-help-with-utis-for-women/

Subject: Supplement with magnesium if you have diabetes it helps reduceinflammation in your body
According to a study published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements, diabetic mice who were administered magnesium showed improvements in markers for anemia and inflammation. Researchers at the University of Idaban in Nigeria used alloxan to induce diabetes in mice. They then treated some of the mice with magnesium every day for two weeks. The mice treated with insulin experienced improvements in their anemic state, as well as improvements in hematologic and metabolic inflammatory markers. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency include nausea, weakness, and loss of appetite. - Some researchers in the University of Ibadan, using mice, administered oral magnesium to understand the effect on anemia and diabetic mice.
- The discovery from the study was that treatment of anemic mice with magnesium improved their state and also it relieved them of inflammatory diabetes.
- Because people with diabetes tend to eliminate a high amount of magnesium and sugar in urine, they tend to have low levels of magnesium.

Subject: Male infertility can be caused by a taurine deficiency
Scientists recently conducted a study that showed their male mice who had low levels of cysteine dioxygenase were also facing signs of low fertility rates. Cysteine dioxygenase is commonly known as CDO, and some refer to it in the medical field as tourine. Due to the high levels of tourine showing to increase fertility levels in male mice and vice versa, researchers are now presuming that the same may be true for human males facing the same issues. - Taurine which is often biosynthesized by the male reproductive system is often found in the heart, blood, retina, and platelets.
- Male rats were involved in the study. These rats were given water with taurine, and then alanine, a taurine transport inhibitor.
- Cysteine deoxygenase (CDO) is a protein that produces taurine. Male rats with abundant amounts of this protein were reproductively healthy while low amounts made them infertile.
"The study suggested that a deficiency in taurine, a vital amino acid which is found abundantly in the male reproductive system, can deform sperm and may lead to male infertility." Read more: https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-12-21-male-infertility-could-be-caused-by-a-taurine-deficiency.html

Subject: Fluoride exposure in utero linked to lower IQ in kids, study says
High amounts of fluoride can be harmful to the development in children, especially in the prenatal stage of development. Most people get fluoride from their public water. Fluoride is added to water to aid in dental health. Studies have been done in Mexico that links high levels of fluoride intake affect the babies' development. China has also reported a similar study in the past that had similar outcomes. Constant excessive intake of fluoride also can cause yellowing of teeth and skeletal fluorosis. - Prenatal exposure to toxins are more detrimental to the child than postnatal exposure.
- In the United States, the majority of the population are exposed to fluoride when drinking water; therefore, some cities are not partaking in the fluoridation of drinking water.
- Although the studies show neurological consequences of children's IQ with the high intake of fluoride, fluoride intake can be beneficial with a limited amount.
"The study found a drop in scores on intelligence tests for every 0.5 milligram-per-liter increase in fluoride exposure beyond 0.8 milligrams per liter found in urine." Subject: Say Goodbye to Gout and High Uric Acid Levels With This Powerful Home Remedy | Natural Cures
You can say goodbye to gout and also high uric acid levels with one powerful home remedy. Uric acid is an acid that is produced by the body when food is broken down during the digestive process. To eliminate it, the cells dissolve it and carry it to the kidneys through the blood stream. The kidneys then expel it. The kidneys filter the blood and get rid of the residue through urine. When there is a build up of this acid, there is an imbalance in the tissue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvdRDA6MKIU&rel=0 - Digestive processes result in uric acid, which is routed to the kidneys for disposal, filtering blood to remove any residue, via the urine.
- Sometimes the body produces too much of the acid, or the filtration proves inadequate, causing acidic levels to rise in the body, and a condition better known as hyperurecemia.
- The condition leads to crystallization, which can adversely affect renal and joint health.

Subject: CBS: Why intense workouts are leading to a life-threatening condition
Intense workouts are leading to a life threatening condition in people. There is a condition called Rhabdomyolysis and it literally means the breakdown of the muscle. It is something that people who workout need to take very seriously. Muscle tissue breaks down and it releases a harmful protein into the bloodstream. Once it is in the bloodstream, then your kidneys become at risk. This happens when there is some type of trauma that happens to the muscle. [video mp4="https://www.healthnutnews.com/why-intense-workouts-are-leading-to-a-life-threatening-condition/"] - Rhabdomyolysis, a threat to those who engage in serious, heavy-duty workouts regularly, is a less known, but serious health condition.
- The condition is caused by physical trauma, specifically a breakdown of muscle tissue, which is why the name literally means 'muscle breakdown.'
- A protein, is released by the trauma, which affects the kidneys, at best case requiring intense hydration, at worst , leading to shut down.

Staying hydrated is important to your health. Even though the body is comprised mostly of water, many people don't drink enough of it. There are multiple ways to tell if your body is not getting enough water. They include: not recovering quickly from an illness, having a dry mouth or skin or eyes, getting mild headaches, having dark colored urine or not urinating enough, feeling tired, gaining weight, and having joint pain. Drinking water can help to alleviate these conditions. While it may not work in all cases, it can't hurt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb_dgGlOu-Q&rel=0 - A lack of water can cause headaches and other pains.
- Your joints need lubrication to function and water supplies that.

Hematuria is the term for having blood present in your urine. it can be caused by urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and more. Often, it is not serious, but it can be a sign of a serious problem. You should see a doctor but there are things you can do to treat the root problem. It can also be caused by a variety of things. Any person can have to deal with this issue in their lifetime regardless of age or gender. - There are two main types of hematuria: microscopic (small amount of blood in the urine) and macroscopic (blood loss can be seen with the naked eye).
- Anyone can get hematuria, but older men, women, and athletes, have a higher risk. So do people with a family history, a recent infection, or those taking certain medications.
- There are natural treatments depending on the cause. Cranberry juice for UTIs, pumpkin seed oil for enlarged prostate, sprouted grains for kidney stones, frankincense oil for bladder cancer.

Subject: What Happens to Our Bodies in Space?
Space travel could become a real viable option for most people in the very near future. But, you may ask, what kind of health problems can arise from traveling in outer space? Well, nutrition for one, could be an area of concern in space travel, since most food would consist of re-hydrated food pouches. Fresh foods during space travel are rare, so vitamins are a must to ensure proper health is maintained. Another health concern for a space traveler may be hygiene. While on board a space flight, water is limited. Showering and changing clothes daily may not be an option. Water is precious and even urine is recycled and reused. In addition, a person's mental health will certainly be tested from being in such a small confined area during the journey. Sleeping, as well, takes a little more thought, since falling asleep without being tethered could cause one to be injured or even float away! Lastly, the main health concern would probably be radiation exposure which could lead to cancer or "space brain," a condition that causes brain damage. These areas of health concern would need to be considered before deciding if boarding the next spacecraft is the right choice for your one of a kind vacation in the near future. Happy travels!! Subject: What Is Taurine? Separating Myth from Reality
Taurine is is an amino acid naturally found in meats and dairy products. If a person consumes a normal balanced diet, they are probably meeting their daily taurine requirements. It is regarded as safe to consume, as long as it is used responsibly in moderation.
It does have numerous health benefits, including improved heart health, sedative effects for those afflicted with neurological disorders, lowering of cholesterol and blood pressure, combating gum disease, and improvement of athletic performance (although there seems to be some disagreement on this point).
A growing source of Taurine is in energy drinks. While usage of energy drinks has resulted in a rise in emergency room visits, the amount of taurine used within should pose no health risk and is not considered a contributing factor.
It should be noted that taurine is not completely understood at this time. Its effects on pregnant/breast-feeding women are unknown at this time, and the safe decision would be to avoid usage. It is also theorized that taurine may be detrimental to those battling bipolar disorders. Only further scientific studies will clarify the benefits/risks associated with taurine. - There is confusion and fear surrounding the effects of taurine on the human body.
- The author attempts to dispel myths regarding taurine and its perceived ill effects.
- Taurine is an amino acid found in many common foods and is produced naturally by our bodies.
"The only amino acid with its own zodiac sign, it’s falsely been associated with the myth of coming from bull urine or bull semen, probably because its name stems from taurus, meaning bull." Subject: End Discomfort & Pain from Gout Symptoms
Not only is gout extremely painful, but many people don't realize that it affects all joints and not just those in the feet. Conventional treatment can be costly not only in a monetary fashion but also your time, but there's hope that a variety of natural treatments may provide a better alternative. For instance, cherries, celery seed, coffee, vitamin C and tumeric can help combat this painful condition. By considering these solutions and changes to your diet, there's hope yet of minimizing this for anyone afflicted by it. - Avoiding purine rich foods can help minimize the risk of gout attacks.
- Gout is characterized by severe pain in the big toe or other body parts where any contact is unbearable.
- Risk Factors include ,but are not limited to, a diet high in beef, seafood, and alcohol; obesity; high blood pressure; and dehydration.
"Researchers have found that two days of cherry intake can reduce recurrent gout attacks by 35 percent." You may notice your urine looking darker or orangish. It is important to pay attention to this because it could reflect bigger health problems. You can't tell by color alone but it can be a sign. A doctor can test your urine if you think there is something wrong so you should communicate with yours whenever you worry. Just tell them what color it is and if you have any oter symptoms that could be signs of something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2z0Rzt7104&rel=0 - Human urine is comprised primarily of water and waste matter.
- urine results due to the efforts of the kidneys, which filter out toxins and unneeded water.
- Lighter, clear urine generally indicates efficient kidney processes and good hydration, while darker urine often indicates the kidney's are working harder and hydration is suboptimal.

Salt and it's effects on the body were recently studied on Russian cosmonauts. They found that the more salt the cosmonauts ate, the less thirsty they were but they became hungrier. This contradicts opinions that salt intake makes you thirstiest. It was also discovered that eating more salt caused increase in urine volume but blood concentrations so salt remained the same no matter how much was eaten. Likely, the body generated the water that was secreted to account for urine volume. It's possible this can lead to weight loss as it was observed in mice in high salt diets in a separate study. Subject: 5 Body Odors You Should Never Ignore
A website for women's health has a piece about body odors. The piece contends that certain odors are indications of illnesses. For example, a fruity breath might mean diabetes, while bad breath might be a sign of sleep apnea. Feet that smell bad might indicate athlete's foot. Smelly poop could be a sign of intolerance to lactose, while smelly urine could signal an infection. The feature is illustrated with several photos or graphics. There are several embedded links in the story. - If your feet smell it is a good sign of athletes foot or other foot fungus.
- Excessive sweating can be a sign of diabetes. If you find yourself sweating for no reason you should seek medical advice.
- Extra stinky pop is a sign of lactose intolerance. Try cutting diary out of your diet and smell if it clears up.
"Lactose intolerance is fairly common: In fact, an estimated 65 percent of people have trouble digesting dairy, according to the National Institutes of Health." Our bodies are mainly composed of water and we need it in order to stay focused and well hydrated. Drinking water first thing in the morning can help with fighting diseases throughout the day. Water gives several benefits including helping relieve pains, regulates blood pressure as well as many others. We need to drink at least 2 liters of water per day to replace as much as we loose on a daily basis. Death can occur if you body if you bodies hydration drops to 10%. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zdtnJVOYM0&rel=0 - The human body must consume approximately 2-2.5 liters daily to recoup insensible losses (sweat, urine, defacation).
- Drinking fasting water has a variety of beneficial health effects on the human body ranging from blood pressure to cholesterol control.

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is known to have a myriad of health benefits and is becoming increasingly used to treat a variety of health conditions. It's even being used to treat pets for a growing number of conditions. It's also not intoxicating like many products with marijuana. For the many people who are wondering if CBD products will show up on a drug test, this article consults with a drug expert to find answers to this common question. - its possible there are trace amounts of THC in cannabidiol to increase the effectiveness
- the fda notified companies in 2015 & 2016 CBD labels were incorrect however they have still neglected the issue
- The most responsible thing to do to insure the pass of a drug screen is to research the label of the mfg of the CBD to verify the potency/safety
"Both experts agree: As long as there is no THC in the CBD products, then a urine test would not yield a positive result for THC metabolites." Subject: How to Get More Magnesium in Your Diet
Consuming healthful levels of magnesium has been linked to disease prevention, reducing the risks of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. While it is estimated that many Americans are magnesium deficient, supplementation with magnesium is discouraged without advice from a health care provider. Fortunately, a balanced diet is enough to meet the average healthy individual’s magnesium needs. Quinoa and pumpkin seeds are examples of food high in magnesium. For a more decadent dose, try a serving of a high percentage dark chocolate. - Half of Americans are at nutritional risk from low Magnesium intake, a problem that is worse with older citizens, who have a less varied diet.
- Nuts, grains and legumes are easy ways to get the essential nutrient from foods.
- Food sources are best, because supplements can inhibit drugs and potentially have adverse reactions.
"However, digestive disorders such as Crohn’s disease or celiac disease can affect the ability to absorb magnesium, and people who have type 2 diabetes or take diuretics may lose more magnesium than normal through their urine." Subject: Here's Why Some Miss Out on the Asparagus Effect
If you have ever eaten a hearty helping of asparagus, you may or may not have noticed that your urine smelled pungent afterwards. A study in the British Medical Journal states that only 40% of people can smell this. This study showed that all the people who could not smell asparagus in urine had the same gene anomaly. Scientists are also hoping to raise awareness of how healthy the vegetable is. This stalky plant is rich in fiber, zinc, iron, folate, and vitamins A, C, and E. Key Takeaways: - The groundbreaking study may pave the way to genetic engineering that would allow more people to detect the distinctive odor, the team at the Harvard School of Public Health said.
- The firmly tongue-in-cheek study is published in the mostly humorous end-of-year holiday issue of the British Medical Journal.
- The team used two big studies of 6,900 men and women to find out why some people can smell the asparagus effect and others cannot.

Subject: Early signs of liver damage that everyone should know
Our livers clean our blood of impurities and toxins, while asisting our bodies with fighting off infections. The liver has the ability to repar itself by regenerating damaged tissues. But when the liver suffers irrepairable damage like cancer, inflammation or scarring, our bodies react by producing outwardly signs. First, your stools will lighten and your urine will become more yellow, as well as your skin and eyes. Also, you may begin to feel itchy and you may bruise or bleed more easily. Additionally, your body will retain excess water, causing your body to swell. Key Takeaways: - When your liver isn't working properly, your skin and the whites of your eyes can become discolored, turning a milky yellow due to the accumulation of a yellowish substance called bilirubin.
- One of the signs of early liver damage is systemic itching. Your itching may be limited to a certain region, such as your arms or legs, or it may be occurring all over your body.
- Folks with damaged livers will tend to bruise and/or bleed much more easily because the organ has slowed or ceased production of proteins that are vital to blood clotting.

Subject: Insights on the link between kidney damage and cognitive impairment
A recent study has found that patients with kidney disease are at a higher risk of having impaired cognitive function. The reason for the connection is unknown. The main indicators of cognitive impairment were increased albuminuria and lowered glomerular filtration rate. When these values got worse in patients, their brain function was found to be more impaired. Key Takeaways: - People with kidney disease are at high risk of cognitive impairment, but the nature of this relationship remains uncertain.
- After adjusting for various demographic and clinical characteristics, higher albumin in the urine, which is indicative of poor kidney function, was linked with worse performance on tests of global cognitive function, executive function, memory, and attention.
- Lower estimated glomerular filtration rate, another indicator of poor kidney function, was linked with worse performance on tests of global cognitive function and memory.
"The findings cement the association between kidney damage and cognitive functioning, suggesting that albumin in the urine and changes in brain structure are likely both representations of the same vascular process, just in different organs," Reference: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/11/161117204911.htm

Subject: Diabetes and bone loss: Strategies to manage bone health with diabetes
A recent study has indicated that bone density can be affected by diabetes in addition to the already long list of complications it causes. The high levels of glucose and possible loss of calcium in the urine can adversely affect the bones, which can lead to life-threatening bone fractures. Diet and exercise are already recommended to help deal with diabetes, but these things are also very important for maintaining bone health. A calcium supplement may also need to be added to the diet if absorption is low or loss of the mineral is high in the urine. Key Takeaways: - Diabetes can increase the risk of bone loss, and the severity of diabetes can determine its impact on bone health.
- Many studies have even shown that type 2 diabetics, even with above average bone mineral density, are still at a higher risk for bone
- The researchers measured the women’s bone material strength and found that diabetics had weaker bone material strength.

Subject: Dilute honey 'may fight urine infections'
A recent study at the University of Southampton is proposing the use of honey to prevent microbiological biofilms from developing within catheters. Their research has shown promising results. They were able to use this natural substance to stop E. coli and Proteus mirabilis bacteria from clustering together as in normal catheters. While the research is far from human trials, this would be an alternative welcomed by those who prefer all natural substances. However, that doesn’t mean it will be as effective as current antimicrobials. Key Takeaways: - Patients often have a catheter fitted, either to drain urine stuck in the bladder or to monitor urine output.
- In theory, a honey solution might be useful for flushing urinary catheters to keep them clean while they remain in the bladder.
- Honey has been used for centuries as a natural antiseptic. People have used it to treat burns and wounds and many companies now sell a range of "medical grade" honey products that comply with regulatory standards.

Subject: How to Build Strong Bones
You often heard your mother keep saying it when you were younger; also you hear your doctor say it even now "If you don't drink your milk, your bones will get weak." Weak bones, joint pains due to lack of calcium and other vitamin deficiencies are fast becoming common. If you are amongst those who suffers from either, it is important that besides your weekly visit to your chiropractor, you also chalk out a healthy diet that is essentially good for your bones. There are plenty of bone-building foods that contribute to stronger bones, lesser joint pains and healthier bodies. Foods Essential for the Bones - Nuts- Most nuts, particularly walnuts contain omega 3 fatty acids that help in reducing bone breakdown. Brazil nuts are an excellent source of magnesium, much needed for bone formation and strengthening. Peanuts and almonds are packed with potassium and are an excellent source of protein which helps keep the bones strong.
- Milk- Milk and most dairy products like cheese and yogurt are excellent sources of calcium. Everybody knows the role calcium plays in building strong bones, teeth, and nails. Thus at least 2 cups of milk and milk products must be consumed daily to get the body's required calcium content.
- Seeds- Almost all seeds like flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and even sesame seeds are extremely rich in nutrients and vitamins, specifically the bone-building mineral magnesium.
- Leafy Vegetables- Vitamin K cuts calcium loss in urine, and its deficiency is known to increase the risk of hip fractures. Leafy green vegetables contain Vitamin K, Calcium, and Magnesium which are crucial to bone development.
- Eggs- The yolk of an egg can give you about 6 % of the Vitamin D required by your body. Whole eggs are thus considered very good for bones. They are also high in protein.
- Soy Milk- Lactose intolerance is common amongst Americans and soy milk is thus an excellent option for all those looking to get their dose of calcium but allergic to milk. Tofu is another food rich in calcium that can be consumed for better bone mass.
- Fish- Salmon, Sardines, and Tuna are all excellent food to consume for bone building and strengthening. These fish contain extremely high levels of vitamin D and also omega 3 fatty acids essential for health and constant bone formation.
Multivitamins and calcium supplements will provide only so much of the required vitamin content of your body; moreover, they are expensive and not always natural. Finally, they are medicines that should be avoided. Bones are made up of live cells that break down and build up every day and to assist and speed up this process, particularly of formation, ample amount of bone-building foods must be consumed. Most foods that contain Vitamin D and K or are rich in Calcium and Magnesium are perfect for strong, healthy bones and a painless lifestyle So now you understand the natural method to build strong bones by retaining your calcium through a diet high in vegetables content and vegetables and then some more vegetables! Subject: What Can I Take To Prevent Bladder Infections?
Although occurring more frequently among women, bladder infection can also turn into a serious health condition among men when left untreated. Bladder infection is commonly caused by E.coli infection, although other factors like pregnancy and trauma can contribute to its development. Aside from proper personal hygiene and overall healthy lifestyle, taking natural supplements can also be helpful in preventing bladder infection. Natural Supplements for Bladder Infection Prevention While vitamins and minerals found in the food you eat everyday play an active role in strengthening your immune system, there are only a few nutrients which are specifically effective in preventing bladder infection. These include the following: In recent years, cranberry supplements have been used to prevent Diabetes Mellitus and Cancer. Primarily, these types of supplements are used even in the olden times as a preventive measure for various urinary tract disorders like bladder infection. Experts originally believe that cranberry supplements prevent bladder infection by making the urine acidic, thus, rendering the environment an unlikely place for bacterial growth. However, they discovered that cranberry supplements work by preventing bacteria from sticking into the lining of the bladder. Cranberry supplements are proven effective in preventing but not treating bladder infections. Compared to cranberry supplements, Lingonberry supplements are less popular as an effective measure to prevent bladder infection. The nutrients found in Lingonberry help prevent urinary tract infections and is also effective in treating gout and arthritis. There are several theories on how these supplements prevent bladder infection but the most accepted scientific explanation is that the compounds found in Lingonberry are effective in killing the bacteria that causes infection in the urine. Conclusion Most cases of bladder infections are considered mild and can be treated with ordinary health remedies like increasing fluid intake. Proper diagnosis and prompt treatment, however, is necessary when symptoms become intense. Stop bladder infection before it happens. Use natural supplements to avoid bladder infection. Subject: What you may need to know about Vitamin B2
What you may need to know about Vitamin B2 Vitamin B2, also called riboflavin or additive E101, is one of the eight (8) B vitamins that are necessary for maintaining proper human health. This nutrient serves several roles in the body. Most important of all, vitamin B2 helps in breaking down food components, including proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Secondly, it plays a critical role in maintaining the body’s energy supply. Thirdly, it is necessary for maintaining body tissues. There are two types of vitamins: Water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. On its part, vitamin B2 is a water-soluble vitamin. Generally, these types of vitamins get absorbed fast into the bloodstream and any excess eliminated through urine. This means that regular replenishment is required. Luckily, there is a long list of foods from which vitamin B2 can be obtained. These foods belong to such categories are animal products, grains, fruits, and plants. Animal products rich in riboflavin include turkey, chicken, liver, beef kidneys, and dairy products. Fruits and vegetables rich in this vitamin B2 include avocado, asparagus, broccoli, and brussels sprouts. Other plant products rich in the nutrient include fortified cereals, spinach, sweet potatoes, peas, nuts, and mushrooms. Vitamin B2 deficiency As vitamin B2 is a vital nutrient, its deficiency may lead to several health complications. Some of the symptoms of the nutrient’s deficiency include sore throats, mouth ulcers, abnormally red lips, inflammation of the tongue, cracks at the corners of the mouth (technically known as angular cheilitis), inflammation of the lining of the mouth, and iron-deficiency anemia. Although the body is equipped to synthesize foods into vitamin B2 nutrient, certain health conditions may prevent it from doing so. In such a case, you are advised to get the nutrient from supplements. Luckily, vitamins in supplement form are absorbed directly into the blood without requiring any form of synthesis. Be informed that it is advisable to go for supplements immediately after realizing any of the riboflavin deficiency symptoms discussed here. Trying to get the nutrients from foods may sometimes take longer than expected. In such a case, your symptoms will continue to worsen instead of getting better. How calcium can Help Prevent Bone Loss

Subject: How calcium can Help Prevent Bone Loss
What is bone loss? Bones are always in a flux. Since it's living tissue, old bone is absorbed, and new bone is built up. This process is referred to as remodeling. Bone loss occurs when there is absorption of more bone than is being built up. What causes it? Bone loss is a natural process that comes with age. There are factors that are beyond human control like genetics, sex, and ethnicity, that contribute to loss of bone. However, some lifestyle factors that can be controlled for instance, being physically inactive, low hormone levels, that is, estrogen in females, and testosterone in males, habits like smoking and drinking alcohol do contribute to faster loss of bone. When you are intoxicated, you risk falling and breaking a bone. Alcohol cases loss of magnesium via urine. Smokers generally have weaker bones. Female smokers are even at a higher risk of bone fractures after menopause. They also begin their menopause early due to reduced estrogen levels. Both male and female smokers are thinner, thus tend to have less bone mass and take longer to heal in case of fractures. How to salvage the situation The best way to prevent bone loss is by ensuring that you develop very strong bones during the first 30 years of your life and then minimize their loss in adulthood. This is how to go about it: Ensure that you intake vitamin D in your diet, expose yourself to early morning or evening sunlight, and take supplements if need be. Vitamin D is very helpful when calcium levels are low in the body. It is converted to its active form reducing loss of calcium via urine in the kidney, and increasing its absorption in the small intestine. Intake a lot of calcium too, as there are two sources of calcium in your body: via your diet and from your bones. It is the latter that is dangerous. Your body will absorb calcium from the bones if there isn't enough in the body. This calcium is really difficult to replace. Intake a diet with magnesium too. It helps in absorption of calcium. If there is excess calcium in the body, one could suffer from arthritis as it will collect in the soft tissues. References: - //www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/calcium-full-story/#bone-loss

Subject: Can Butterbur Extract Help with Bladder Incontinence?
What is Butterbur It is a shrub that usually grows in marshy ground. It is found in North America, Europe, and Asia. In ancient times, its leaves were used to wrap butter when it was warm. Despite the rather interesting use, it is a plant that has been used for medicinal purposes for quite a while now. It has over time proved effective for clearing headaches, reducing pain, fever, anxiety, and problems with the urinary tract. Butterbur extract is derived from the roots, leaves and rhizomes. It is used in the manufacturing of tablets. Topically, it treats allergies, clears migraines and asthma. How it helps elevate incontinence The traditional use of butterbur in treating problems in the urinary tract is still applicable today even in modern medicine. Normally, it is neurons in the brain and in the bladder's smooth muscles that involuntarily influence the muscle that surrounds the bladder, referred to as detrusor muscle. The detrusor muscle will contract and expand depending on the amount of urine present in the bladder. Incontinence results when the smooth muscle in the bladder contracts without any warning whatsoever. It is characterized by overly frequent urination, which is more than 3 times in 24 hours, urgency and leaking. The extract works by relaxing the detrusor muscle which reduces pressure on the bladder. Its active ingredient is a compound known as petasin. The results can be seen after a minimum of 4 weeks. By the eighth week, they are even more pronounced. Patients can improve from a minimum of 30 minutes urination intervals to 150 minutes. There are absolutely no side effects. It is not recommended for expectant mothers, or during lactation. However, it should be noted that unsaturated pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) are present in the natural form which could lead to liver damage. However, after processing, the P.A.s are removed. It is always safe to check whether the processed one has got any. References: - //nccam.nih.gov/health/butterbur

Bladder Infections
A bladder infection (usually called cystitis) is one of the most common disease in the world. This disease is commonly found in women because their urinary anatomy systems are more susceptible than men to the infections. In normal conditions, the bladder is free from the bacteria and any other organisms that can cause some infections. When bacteria come to the bladder, they enter through the end of the urinary tract or the bloodstream. Untreated urinary tract infection is able to cause more serious kidney infections. That is the reason why you should treat this infection as soon as possible.

This is a fermented beverage that is made out of yeast, bacteria, tea and sugar. Discovery Kombucha was first discovered in Manchuria which is in the Northeast part of China. It then went on to spread to Russia and eventually to the rest of the world. It is made by the process of fermentation. The fermentation process is basically done by placing a symbiotic culture of yeasts over tea which has sugar and they are all exposed to oxygen over a period of time. There are times when this yeast culture is referred to as a mushroom because of how it looks. When it is placed on the brewing tea, it basically looks like a floating mushroom. Heath Benefits This Kombucha tea has different ingredients which make it such a healthy beverage. This is because of the different functions that they have in the body. For starters, it has different strains of beneficial bacteria which help in boosting the levels of immunity in the body. The acetic acid is known to have antiseptic qualities which help in preventing infections. It is also known to have the ability to inhibit the pathogenic bacteria which are also known for causing infections. The gluconic acid is also known to work with caprylic acid and butyric acid to strengthen cellular membranes. They also work together to strengthen the gut walls so that the body is able to fight off the yeast infections that may attack the body. Subject: Vitamin D-3
Vitamin D-3 has profound health benefits in our bodies. It is necessary for maintaining bone density and the body's immunity against heart diseases, cancers, muscle wasting, osteoporosis, weakness, among other disorders. Like all the other types of vitamin D, Vitamin D-3 is a hormone which is produced naturally in our bodies. Very few foods contain this vitamin but the good thing is that it is readily available to the body via absorption of the rays of the sun. Children Vitamin D-3 plays a crucial role in the development of the brain. Its deficiency in children may lead to autism. It also helps in the absorption of calcium which is needed for the development of bones. Children may also develop rickets which eventually cause bone deformities and results in weakening of the bones and muscles. It also prevents per-eclampsia. This is a condition that occurs during pregnancy and leads to production of protein in urine and high blood pressure, eventually leading to premature labor. Deficiency of Vitamin D-3 in the body poses numerous health risks. Since it is mainly manufactured in the skin directly from the sunlight, people living in areas with little sunlight are at an increased risk of suffering from the health problems that are caused by its deficiency. Recommended intake People who stay in the northern climates are advised to take it through supplements in order to maintain their health. These supplements are available in health facilities and nutritional stores. The recommended intake of Vitamin D-3 is 1000 IU per day. This offers increased protection against mental illness, obesity, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. This amount is easily produced by spending a few hours in the sunshine each week. Where sun exposure is not possible, vitamin D3 capsules will readily provide your body with these nutrients. These supplements are affordable and have no side effects to your body. They are necessary in order to ensure your body gets the required amount of Vitamin D3

Subject: Can D-Mannose Help Fight Bladder Infections?
D-Mannose
Mannose is a naturally occuring sugar found in cranberries, blueberries, and apples. It works by keeping bacteria in urinary area from adhering to the walls of the bladder. In supplement form (D-mannose) is used for treatment of bladder infections. It is absorbed much slower than other sugars. It travels directly to the bloodstream from the upper gastrointestinal tract ridding the body of E. coli. which is known to stick to the bladder and urinary areas. It is considered a safe alternative to antibiotics and can be used by children and adults (including pregnant women, the elderly and diabetic patients).
Symptoms of a bladder infection include foul smelling urine and frequent and/or burning sensation during urination. If any of these symptoms occur, it is a good time to begin taking a D-mannose supplement.
The recommended dose of D-mannose in supplement form is 500mg in capsule form or one teaspoon of powder mixed in a glass of water or juice. The dosage should be repeated approximately every three hours over a five day period. Urinary tract and bladder infections caused by E. coli. that are treated with D-mannose are generally gone in as little as 48 hours. However, it is advised to continue to do the full five day treatment to be sure the infection is eliminated. The advantage of taking the supplement over drinking cranberry or other juices containing mannose is avoiding the fructose often causes health problems and weight gain.
It is strongly advised to see a physician if symptoms do not improve within 48 hours of taking D-mannose. This is because it is likely the symptoms are not cause by E. coli. and require medical treatment.
D-mannose along with other preventative measures such as drinking plenty of fluids (especially water), emptying the bladder frequently, and wearing cotton underwear (allows ventilation) are all key components in avoiding future bladder infections.
