Vitamin Deficiencies on the Rise: Addressing the Increasing Awareness of Micronutrient Deficiencies

Subject: Vitamin Deficiencies on the Rise: Addressing the Increasing Awareness of Micronutrient Deficiencies
Vitamin Deficiencies on the Rise: Addressing the Increasing Awareness of Micronutrient Deficiencies In recent years, there's been a significant uptick in the awareness of vitamin and mineral deficiencies across global populations. Micronutrients, though required in minuscule amounts, play a critical role in bodily functions, from metabolism to immunity. Despite advancements in healthcare and education, many individuals are still unaware of their own nutritional gaps, with modern diets contributing significantly to these deficiencies.
Factors Contributing to Micronutrient Deficiencies Modern Diet Trends The rise in convenience foods, which are often calorie-dense but nutrient-poor, has significantly impacted nutritional intake. Fast foods, processed meals, and sugary snacks have become staples in many diets, particularly in urban settings. These foods are typically low in essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, iron, and magnesium. As people increasingly rely on these quick, palatable options, it often comes at the expense of nutrient-rich fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.
Lifestyle Changes Another contributing factor to vitamin deficiencies is the shift in lifestyle patterns. Longer work hours, increased screen time, and reduced physical activity mean that individuals spend less time outdoors. This has a particularly detrimental effect on vitamin D levels, which are naturally synthesized when skin is exposed to sunlight. Furthermore, high-stress levels and poor sleep quality can deplete essential nutrients, exacerbating the issue.
Agricultural Practices Changes in agricultural practices have also had an inadvertent impact on the micronutrient content of food. Soil depletion, the use of chemical fertilizers, and genetically modified crops can lead to lower levels of vitamins and minerals in produce. Consequently, even those who consume fruits and vegetables regularly might not be getting the expected nutrient benefits.
Fast Food and Nutrient Deficiencies It is becoming increasingly clear that the widespread consumption of fast food plays a significant role in the rise of vitamin deficiencies. Fast food items are often designed to be highly palatable and energy-dense. However, they are typically laden with unhealthy fats, sugars, and sodium while lacking essential nutrients. Regularly consuming these foods can lead to an imbalance in diet, where the body might get ample calories but insufficient vitamins and minerals. For instance, studies have shown that diets high in fast food are linked to lower intakes of vitamins A and C, dietary fiber, calcium, and iron. These deficiencies can trigger a range of health issues, from diminished immune function and poor bone health to increased susceptibility to chronic diseases.
Addressing the Issue: Food-Based Multivitamins To counteract these dietary deficiencies, many nutrition experts recommend incorporating a food-based multivitamin into daily routines. Unlike synthetic supplements, food-based multivitamins are derived from whole foods and contain a spectrum of vitamins and minerals in their natural forms, which can be more readily absorbed and utilized by the body.
Benefits of Food-Based Multivitamins - Enhanced Absorption: Nutrients from whole foods are often better recognized and absorbed by the body.
- Balanced Nutrient Profile: These multivitamins often include a mix of micronutrients that work synergistically to support overall health.
- Digestive Support: Many food-based multivitamins contain digestive enzymes and probiotics to support gut health.
- Fewer Side Effects: Because they are closer to their natural state, food-based supplements typically cause fewer gastrointestinal issues compared to synthetic vitamins.
Selecting a High-Quality Multivitamin When choosing a food-based multivitamin, look for products that:
- Use organic, non-GMO ingredients.
- Have minimal additives and fillers.
- Are transparently sourced.
- Include a diverse array of vitamins and minerals.
- Kal Enhanced Energy Food based Multiple is Recommended.
In Summary: The rise in micronutrient deficiencies is a concerning trend that underscores the importance of balanced nutrition. While modern lifestyles and dietary habits contribute significantly to this issue, there are effective ways to address it. Reducing the intake of nutrient-poor fast foods and incorporating food-based multivitamins can help bridge the gap and support overall nutritional needs. By making informed dietary choices, individuals can foster better health and mitigate the risks associated with vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Subject: Gut Health 101: How Inulin Prebiotic is Considered a Resistant Starch Can Support Your Digestive System
Are you tired of feeling bloated, constipated, or just plain uncomfortable after eating? If so, you're not alone. Millions of people struggle with digestive issues every day, and in many cases, the root cause is an unhealthy gut. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to improve your gut health, and one of the most effective is to incorporate an inulin prebiotic with resistant starch into your diet.
What is Inulin Prebiotic Blend?
Inulin is a soluble fiber that's found in many fruits and vegetables, including wheat and chicory root. It's known for its prebiotic properties, which means that it promotes the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria. Inulin is also considered a digestive resistant starch, is a type of carbohydrate that resists digestion in the small intestine, making its way to the large intestine where it feeds beneficial gut bacteria.
Inulin causes a synergistic effect that can help support digestive wellness, butyric acid production, and a healthy gut barrier.
How Does it Benefit Your Digestive System?
When you consume foods that are high in inulin, it travel down to your large intestine where it is fermented by your gut bacteria. This fermentation process produces short-chain fatty acids, including butyric acid, which provides energy to the cells that line your colon.
Butyric acid has been shown to have many health benefits, including reducing inflammation, improving gut barrier function, and lowering the risk of colon cancer. Furthermore, inulin prebiotic can help feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut, which can crowd out harmful bacteria and support overall gut health.
Whether you choose to get these nutrients from whole foods or supplements, taking steps to support your gut health is an important part of overall wellness.

Cacao powder is made from raw cacao beans that have been slowly fermented to bring out their rich flavor and then sun-dried, instead of roasted, to retain all of their valuable nutrients. With NOW Real Food® Organic Raw Cacao Powder you can enjoy the intensely rich flavor and nutritional benefits of dark chocolate without added sugar and unhealthy ingredients. Cacao powder is ideal for wholesome, natural recipes, and it’s a great addition to a variety of desserts and beverages, including hot chocolate and ice cream. Nutritional Benefits of Raw Cacao Powder
Raw cacao powder is an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, including magnesium, iron, calcium, copper, zinc, and potassium. It is also a good source of dietary fiber and protein. Raw cacao powder has a higher antioxidant content than roasted cacao powder or even blueberries! Antioxidants are important because they help protect our cells from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells and cause inflammation. Allowing free radicals to build up in our bodies can lead to chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. Including RAW cacao powder in your diet is a delicious way to help reduce the risk of these chronic diseases!
Health Benefits of Raw Cacao Powder
In addition to its high antioxidant content, raw cacao powder has been shown to improve heart health, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, improve cognitive function, and even improve your mood! One study showed that participants who drank 2 cups of hot cocoa made with raw cacao powder daily for 30 days had lower blood pressure than those who didn’t drink cocoa. Another study showed that people who consumed high amounts of flavonoids (such as those found in raw cacao) had a lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease and stroke. The polyphenols in raw cacao have also been shown to reduce inflammation and improve cognitive function in older adults. Finally, raw cacao contains compounds that can improve your mood by increasing levels of serotonin (the “happy hormone”) in your brain. So next time you’re feeling down, try making yourself a cup of hot cocoa with NOW Real Food® Organic Raw Cacao Powder!
NOW Real Food® Organic Raw Cacao Powder is a delicious way to get the nutritional benefits of dark chocolate without the added sugar or unhealthy ingredients. Subject: A Healthy Endocannabinoid System ECS Properly Regulates The Following:
Understanding the ECS
Some Endocannabinoids tell out body how much inflammatory messenger molecules to release or with hold. Others tell how fast to move food through the gastrointestinal tract. Still others tell the brain to release or hold neurotransmitters to calm the brain.
- Stress
- Memory
- Mood
- Inflammation
- Energy
- Sleep
- Metabolism
- Appetite
- Appetite
- Pain response
- Immune function
- Nerve signaling
- Muscle control
Age does Matter!
Aging is a major contributor to a unhealthy ECS function. Lifestyle choices such as diet, exercise, exposure to toxins and stress impact and contribute to a declining ECS.
- These factors cause us to product fewer endocannabinoids.
- Contribute to fewer enzymes known to liberate endocannabinoids in the body.
- Then, Endocannabinoid receptors loose sensitivity and don't respond well.
Any age can consume CBD and benefit from a balanced ECS. Take the plunge and try CBD today!

Subject: Here's how you can improve digestion naturally!
Due to the stresses of everyday life and unhealthy eating, more people than ever are experiencing digestive issues. Fortunately, there are some relatively easy and natural ways to avoid antacids, antibiotics, and other medicines that come with negative side effects. Ginger is one substance that has been used for generations for a whole host of digestive problems, including bloating and general discomfort. It works best if it's ingested before a meal. Peppercorns are another spice that can help improve overall digestion and boost the metabolism. Carrom seeds are commonly used in Indian dishes and are known for alleviating constipation and activating digestive enzymes. Finally, clove is great for flatulence and indigestion. - One facet of our modern life is that we tend to ignore minor digestion related issues until they become something serious.
- Using antacids and antibiotics, people look for quick solutions to issues such as acidity, heartburn, constipation, and other related problems without understanding the cause of the problem.
- This article includes natural herbs and spices that are a way to boost the body’s defenses and provide protection from digestion related issues.

Why Fibre: The One Effective Macronutrient For Constipation AndWeight Loss

(support@vitanetonline.com)
Subject: Why Fibre: The One Effective Macronutrient For Constipation AndWeight Loss
Fiber is a critical macronutrient that can help to alleviate constipation by increasing the size and weight of the stool. However, consuming too much fiber can cause discomfort, gas and bloating. The recommended daily intake of fiber for adults is 25 grams for women and 35 grams for men. Unfortunately, most people take in only about 15 grams of fiber per day. It's important to drink plenty of water so that the body can absorb fiber properly without any negative effects. While fiber is not a magic pill, it can aid in weight loss by eliminating toxins, boosting gut health, and balancing blood sugar. - Since fiber is an essential macronutrient that the body requires, people who are suffering from constipation can get relief from having it in their diet.
- Some of the benefits of taking fiber include the smooth movement of bowel through the increase in the weight and size of stool, and for losing weight.
- Although fiber is good for the body, too much of fiber is unhealthy because it can lead to bloating, gas, and constipation.
"This means that a lack of fibre can invite a host of health problems ranging from plummeting sugar and lipid profiles, overeating which can in turn lead to obesity, constipation and gut dysbiosis which can pave way for even more serious illnesses." Probiotics Benefit More Than Just Digestion

Subject: Probiotics Benefit More Than Just Digestion
Everyone has heard that probiotics can help us stay regular, but they can do a lot more than that. Taking probiotics can help to boost your immune system. Pro-biotics can lower blood pressure and cholesterol level. They can help you stay hydrated and fight inflammation, both of which can improve the condition of your skin. It has become apparent also that the mind and the gut are interconnected. Therefore, taking probiotics for a healthy gut will support greater mental health. - We are constantly being advised to take probiotics because they can help in making us healthy, but there are many more things they can help us in.
- An unhealthy gut can lead to weight gain because one has constipation and is not able to digest food properly while a healthy gut leads to weight loss.
- Two factors that can contribute to a sick heart are blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It has been shown that probiotics can reduce both of these.
"A healthy gut means stronger immunity, and when you feed your gut probiotics, it can go a long way in boosting your immune system. We can all use an extra immune boost this time of year." Read more: https://www.belmarrahealth.com/probiotics-benefit-more-than-just-digestion/

Subject: Industrially processed fructose is just as addictive as alcohol andeven morphine, concludes study
Did you know that over 50 pounds of fructose is consumed annually each year by the average individual? Many people are unaware that this fructose can lead to an addiction that is just as strong as alcoholism. In fact, the Journal of the American Dietetic Association specifically found that there are similar social and metabolic components when you compare alcoholism to someone with an addiction to fructose. This shows just how dangerous everyday exposure to the artificial additive can be. - For sweet lovers who would not do without a sweet, it has been found that fructose that is industrially processed is as addictive and damaging as alcohol.
- Fructose or fruit sugar is healthy when taken from fruits naturally but it becomes unhealthy when the fructose is industrially produced.
- Fructose and glucose are sugars in the body but fructose is more damaging to the body because it can lead to glycation which causes tissue damage.
"Sweets are well-loved by millions of people across the world, with at least 50 pounds of processed fructose being consumed per year." Read more: https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-12-21-industrially-processed-fructose-as-addictive-as-alcohol-morphine.html

Subject: Your depression may be caused by chronic brain inflammation
Depression is something that a ton of people in the world today suffer from. It is not an easy thing to deal with. However, if you are someone who has it, then you must find how you can cope with it. It may be hard but there is always something that you can do to help yourself. Understanding where depression comes from is difficult as well. However, some doctors say that it can be caused by some brain inflammation. - Some neurologists believe that depression is caused by brain inflammation and these inflammations are not readily noticed because the brain doesn’t have pain receptors.
- People with chronic inflammation are at higher risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease because it causes inflammation of the brain, making the amygdala smaller.
- The brain chemical deficiency model of depression is the model that scientists have been working on for very long time and it fuels Big Pharma producing harmful chemicals.
"Chronic inflammation is largely caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits such as poor diet, lack of physical exercise, and inadequate sleep, among others. These behaviors, while seemingly inconsequential initially, fuel the inflammation response long after it stops being helpful." Subject: Acidity : Ways to Minimize Acid Indigestion
Acid is one of those words that many people have a viceral reaction to. It is hard to explain to people why acid would actually be considered healthy for you. Some people simply think acid is bad and any of its uses are not going to be good for you. However, there are some individuals who struggle with acid indigestion. If you have had that, you know how uncomfortable it is. With that being said, there are ways to limit that. - Digestive issues are not usually given much attention and importance in the scheme of things because they are often temporary.
- Acidity is related to an unhealthy lifestyle or living an inactive lifestyle.
- Some ways to prevent or deal with acidity are to consume food 2-3 hours before going to bed, taking adequate water and avoiding carbonated drinks.

How Nutrient Deficiencies Can Affect Your Mental Health We often separate who we are into two separate parts, specifically body and mind, acting a if we are some odd hybrid creature. But, the truth is that the brain is as much a part of the body as the fingers, muscles and hair are. We all expect our diet to affect our waistline, and strength, our energy and our hair's luster, or lack thereof. In reality, since our brains are as much affected by our diet as any other part, it stands to reason that our mind's ability to handle stress, emotions and mental load are very much affected too. All of which is born out by data which shows that diets that are imbalanced and overloaded with sugar, unhealthy fats, and chemical additives are apt to contribute to disease symptoms, like ADHD, depression and anxiety.
When the body lacks specific nutrients, like sufficient protein, it can hamper the body's ability to create needed brain chemicals that aid in our ability to handle emotions and stress. In fact, the brain is comprised of a great deal of fat. So, healthy a diet that has sufficient good quality fatty acids is important fro brain health. Brain health and stamina is affected by an array of nutrients that come from food, including magnesium, vitamin B12, zinc and vitamin D. Their lack can cause or hasten mood and behavior shifts that can become problems. - How levels of omega-3 fatty acids can lead to depression, anxiety, and attention difficulties.
- If you are a vegetarian or a vegan and you are suffering from depression, you may want to make sure you are getting enough Vitamin B12.
- Foods rich in protein, including nuts, meat, and eggs, contain amino acids which regulate your serotonin levels.
"But the foods we eat also play a role in how we feel mentally as well, and an imbalanced diet can mess with our heads just as much as our stomachs." Read more: https://www.bustle.com/p/how-nutrient-deficiencies-can-affect-your-mental-health-11194369

How sleep habits affect weight goals: Survey reveals the ideal sleep schedule for shedding pounds A study of 1000 Brits found that people who get less than seven hours of sleep in an average night have noticeably more erratic eating patterns than their better-rested compatriots. People who got less than seven hours of sleep were more likely to break their diets, snack between meals and drink more alcohol. By contrast, people with consistently good sleep patterns found it easier to lose weight by dieting and had more regular, routine eating schedules. Scientists generally recommend going to bed around 10 PM to maximize your restorative REM sleep. - Following a healthy sleeping pattern, combined with healthy eating habits, can help you lose weight.
- People who sleep less than seven hours every night tend to show the most erratic eating habits.
- Three-fourths of dieters in a study found it easier to lose weight if they were getting enough sleep.
"Millions of adults are missing out on sleep, which leads to unhealthy lifestyle habits – such as excessive eating – in turn leading to a plethora of adverse health effects." Read more: https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-08-02-how-sleep-habits-affect-weight-goals.html

Subject: Vitamin K essential to a healthy heart; deficiency found to contribute to unhealthy enlargement in adolescents
Vitamin K is good for the heart. If you don't get enough of it and are an adolescent you are at risk of an enlargement of the heart. This is a matter for concern. This is not a good condition for the heart to be in. It then has to work too hard. There are foods which contain vitamin K so it wouldn't be hard to get it into your diet if you need more. There are also supplements you could take. You could ask your doctor to help you find a good one. - The medical research at Augusta University is the first to examine the effects of Vitamin K on the heart health of young people.
- The study found that 3/4 of young people don't get enough Vitamin D in their diet.
- Young people who get the recommended lel of 75 mg Vitamin K have hearts with noticeably better structure and function and have less risk of heart-related adverse events.
"They discovered that those who ate the smallest amount of vitamin K-rich foods, such as spinach, cabbage, iceberg lettuce, broccoli, and olive oil, had a 3.3 percent higher risk of having an unhealthy enlargement of the left ventricle." Subject: Chlorella supplementation 'more effective in unhealthy subjects,' researchers say
This is interesting research on chlorella supplementation. It actually turns out that unhealthy subjects responded better to it than healthier ones. This is probably due to the fact that their health was so much in need of improvement. There need to be more studies on this subject now because we need to know which health conditions would respond the best to it. Scientific studies do well when they have a diverse group of test subjects with different conditions. - Taking the supplement Chlorella has been shown to have benefits on health, seemingly more so on sick and/or malnourished individuals.
- Chlorella has a type of fiber that binds to fat and as such lowers the absorption of Cholesterol.
- Just because there appears to be benefits, researchers haven't concluded if Chlorella is the sole cause, but it looks good.
"Consuming chlorella as a supplement improved levels of total cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, and other indicators of cardiovascular disease risk—but may be a better value to unhealthy populations, according to a new meta-analysis." Enlargement of the heart is a serious matter. A vitamin K deficiency may contribute to it but is easily remedied. Do not ignore this. If you need more get a supplement for sure. You can also find out which foods it is in so you can eat more of them. It is best to get vitamins from your diet if possible. If your heart does become enlarged it can be dangerous since it then has to work harder to get blood and therefore oxygen around your body. - Individuals who do not have enough Vitamin K experience an increased risk of heart issues
- To decrease the risk of blood clotting and to build healthy bones, everyone needs to ensure that they attain enough Vitamin K on a daily basis
- Vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, and iceberg lettuce are rich in Vitamin K and should be included in any diet

One thing you need to do to prevent unhealthy nails is to make sure you are getting enough essential vitamins. You should also drink plenty of water. - Other vitamin and mineral deficiencies such as iron, vitamin C, and zinc can cause issues such as nails splitting, so look at your diet, and get a good multivitamin.
- At least in the beginning. It sounds counterintuitive, but in the same way your hair needs regular trims, so do your nails. Keep them short and filed while you get the other steps under control
- A vitamin B group deficiency is not only more likely as you get older, but it can lead to dry and brittle nails, amongst other health issues. Increasing your intake of vitamin B

Doctor's Orders: Reduce Your Sugar Intake to Lower Triglycerides

Subject: Doctor's Orders: Reduce Your Sugar Intake to Lower Triglycerides
Even the least health conscious consumer has been inundated with enough data to understand the red flag that is excess fat and cholesterol in the diet. Many of us are unaware of the nature of triglycerides, however, which are another important red flag.
Triglycerides are fat within the body that arise from calorie consumption, but not directly from fat. When we consume more calories than we need, the body transforms these calories into fat, specifically triglycerides. Therefore decreasing actual fat consumption is not necessarily the most proactive way to reduce an unhealthy excess of triglycerides.
Healthy triglyceride levels in human blood should average at less than 150 mg per deciliter. With higher levels comes a greater risk of clots and strokes. To mitigate the risk of these problems its a good idea to lower sugar and refined carbohydrate intake, as both of these categories are highly caloric, leading ultimately to a risk of high triglyceride production in the body. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 25-37 grams of sugar, or 6-9 tsps per day, for normal adults. Many people in today's modern climate are looking for a new way to destroy and reverse the effects of their unhealthy eating habits. One major thing to look into is how to reverse cholesterol problems. HDL cholesterol is considered the "good" cholesterol, and therefore should be emphasized. One way of doing this that scientists have found, is to eat almonds. In a study, 48 adults had controlled for eating a small amount of almonds, and those that had them were found to return to healthy levels of HDL. - A study compared high density lipoprotein values in two different groups of participants, one of which consumed almonds, while the others had a muffin.
- Members on the almond regime experienced improved high density lipoprotein values and functionality.
- While low density lipoproteins are detriment in the body, increasing the risk of heart attack, high density lipoproteins are the exact opposite.

Subject: 5 Benefits Of Cannabis Tea
Cannabis can be consumed in many different forms, one of which is tea. This is a popular way. People enjoy tea. This gives the benefits of drinking this. Many swear by cannabis. They want it to be legal because of the positive affects it has on certain health conditions. If you want to try this tea you should check this out to see what you can gain. It is a good idea to research before trying any herbs for improving your health. - Drinking cannabis-infused tea is especially helpful for digestive problems like acid re-flux and constipation because it is absorbed directly into the digestive tract.
- Drinking cannabis-infused tea is healthier than smoking cannabis because, although marijuana possesses multiple health benefits, smoking any substance is unhealthy.
- If using marijuana for pain-relief, cannabis-infused tea would be the preferable method because absorbing the herb through the digestive system provides longer lasting pain relief through-out the body

Subject: What’s the Best, Healthiest Butter Substitute?
People might want to find a brand new option to butter and they are in luck because there is a better and healthier option out there for them. Coconut oil and coconut butter are two options that can work for you. Coconut oil is considered to be very unhealthy for you, but it is actually good for you, as long as it is in moderation. The problem might be that people are overdoing it when it comes to the oil. - Real, grass-fed butter is a dairy product made from cow’s milk also known as milk fat. It’s composed of about 80 percent fat
- Now, most recent studies suggest that real, grass-fed butter can be healthy for you, though past research has positioned too much butter as bad for your heart due to its saturated fat content
- There are many substitutes for butter for these reasons and more, but if you choose to eat butter, have the real thing

A dietician addresses the subject of dietary fats. She presents a balanced and objective perspective of these fats, evaluating them by type and their effect on health. This includes a brief overview of some of the body's uses for fat. Healthy unsaturated fats are listed by type and food source, followed by discussion of unhealthy saturated fats, and the food sources where these fats can be found. In conclusion it is stated that including the right kind of fat in the diet is important to human health, but the high caloric content must be taken into account when consuming this food. - Not all fats are bad, saturated fats are the bad ones.

Subject: Obesity crisis
Obesity has become a global crisis with at least 50% of the global population categorized as being an unhealthy weight. In the US 30% of the population is deemed obese. The author is partly attributing this to the increase in the export/import of cheap, high calorie foods such as oils and fats. Although a healthy diet should include some fats, many diets have way too much. The author also states that while poor countries still face underweight issues and starvation, the wealthier countries' populations can choose nutrient rich foods but often don't. Good for a multitude of health benefits, Vitamin K2 is often overlooked in favor of much more notable vitamins such as C or B12. It can help with everything from dental hygiene and health to improving upon our cardiovascular system. K2 is mainly found in animal products such as meat or eggs, as well as non-animal products such as fermented soybeans. Subject: The 3 biggest feeding mistakes you can make with your preschooler
Feeding a preschooler can be a daunting task. It is difficult when all they want is unhealthy food, and shun any attempt at giving them something healthy. There are some mistakes which can be avoided. Do not let them drink till their full, or eat a constant stream of snacks. At a young age it is time to impress on the importance of healthy eating. Key Takeaways: - It’s totally understandable why parents do this; after all, nobody wants their child to go hungry. So they fill the plate with chicken fingers and French fries and skip the vegetables.
- They serve white bread and not whole grain, they let them eat chips instead of apple slices for snacks. The kid is happy and eats up, so the parents are happy.
- The problem is that not only is the child not eating a healthy diet, the child isn’t learning to like the foods that can keep him healthy for a lifetime.

Subject: These Are the 7 most Common Vitamin Deficiencies
Most people haven’t even heard of vitamin K2. Is it any surprise that they might be a bit deficient, too? Vitamin B12 deficiency is quite common, even among those who eat plenty of the richest source of B12: animals. Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in people of all ages, especially in those who choose to use topical sun screens (which blocks vitamin D production) or limit their outdoor activities. Key Takeaways: - The best way to ensure that you’re getting all the vitamins your body needs to function properly is to eat a healthy and balanced diet.
- There are supplements you can take, but usually the best source is the all-natural way through food.
- certain vitamins are essential to your health
"Even if you eat a healthy and balanced diet, the way your food is stored, a lack of freshness, and processing can greatly affect the vitamins your body is able to absorb." Subject: Is your storable food just repackaged genetically modified SOY and CORN?
Common survival and storable foods are may not be the healthiest foods to keep for long term health. It seems that many of these foods are loaded with unhealthy additions like MSG and pesticides. Almost all of these products contain corn and soybean in one form or another and most of those crops are genetically modified. Luckily, there are some healthier alternatives out there that don’t contain such toxic ingredients. Key Takeaways: - Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, reported on the presence of toxic ingredients in many survival foods
- Adams wrote that nearly every popular storable food product contained GMOs
- Genetically modified corn and soy are two of the most prolific ingredients on the food market today

How Much Protein Should You Eat?

Subject: How Much Protein Should You Eat?
Protein is the major staples of a strong diet along with carbohydrates and fats. Eating them in the proper proportions will help you to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. Despite what you may have heard, most people don't have a problem getting enough protein. The more important thing to focus on is eating the right protein. So how much protein per day should you eat? The USDA, in their My Food Pyramid guidance system, suggests 0.8g - 1.2g of protein per kilogram of body weight daily. So what the heck does that mean? To determine this for yourself, multiply your weight by 0.45, and that gets you your weight in kilograms. So an 180 lb. The male would weigh 81 kilograms. Multiply that by 0.8 - 1.2 and that person would need about 65g-100g of protein per day. Proteins are made up of amino acids, one of the main building blocks in our body. They are even found in our DNA. Many are produced by the body (called non-essential amino acids), but others are only obtained from food called essential amino acids. You can get these necessary amino acids from supplements, but the best source is food. Why are these amino acids so important in burning fat? Amino acids combine to create structural proteins in the body. Without them, we wouldn't be able to repair and build muscle tissue, which helps keep our metabolism high and helps us burn fat - even resting. Amino acids come from protein sources. If you don't eat enough protein in your diet, you lack the amino acid combination's to keep your body functioning properly. There are many sources of protein, but not all are good for you. Some protein-rich food also contains a lot of saturated fat. So, you need protein sources that are low in saturated fat but high in the proteins that the body needs to break down and retrieve the essential amino acids. Here are some examples of lean proteins:- Red meat - Red meat is full of protein. Leaner cuts such as eye of the round will come with less fat. Grass-fed beef is the best when you can find it because it contains fewer hormones and other unhealthy byproducts. -Fish - Certain fish and shrimp contain protein, as well as other nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids (a member of the "good fats" category). They are good for heart health and overall well-being. Try salmon, mackerel, trout, or tuna.

Subject: Diabetes nutrition: Eating out when you have diabetes
For people with diabetes, the condition can make eating out feel restrictive. Fortunately, with the right choices it doesn't have to be that way. Avoiding buffets can being mindful to portion size are important. Additionally, many restaurants allow the ability to substitute unhealthy food choices for healthier options. Finally, be aware of extra sources of calories that aren't part of the original dish. Key Takeaways: - When dining out, eat the same portions that you would at home, don't overeat, especially since restaurants tend to serve large portions.
- Try to substitute high fat items on the menu for healthier ones, for example, lower fat salad dressing.
- Call ahead (or ask) if you can get foods fixed in a more healthier way, like baked instead of fried.
"Many restaurants offer healthy alternatives. And you can plan what you want to order by looking at menus online, some of which provide nutrition information." Reference: //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetes/in-depth/diabetes-nutrition/art-20047665

If you said yes to either of the first two questions then you should take a look at this article about how soy should and should not be consumed. Key Takeaways: - What many debates over the nature of soy fail to take into account is that soy-based foods are neither healthy nor unhealthy; it all depends on the processing.
- The soy bean itself is highly unhealthy for human consumption
- These processes are what transform soy (the dangerous food) into the healthful products of tofu, tempeh, miso and soy sauce that have played a major role in the diets of many Asian cultures for hundreds of years.

Subject: How to Detoxify the Body
Free radicals are elements in the body that attacks healthy cells, resulting to cellular and tissue damage. When this happens, mild conditions such as weight gain to serious illnesses such as cancer may occur. The production of more and more free radicals intensifies due to several factors. Pollution, the food you eat, different kinds of chemicals found in the environment and the daily stress you go through are all factors that contribute to the increase of free radicals. Thus, detoxification should be a must for everybody. Detox means cleansing the body of toxins and harmful elements. The importance of detoxification has intensified as years go by. The modern world has not only offered outstanding innovations but many deadly diseases. The many benefits of detox can help counter these unhealthy occurrences.
What are some of the Benefits of Detoxifying the Body? This is among the exciting benefits one can get from detoxification. Just like a clean house or a clean car engine, you would feel a heightened vitality as harmful elements are flushed out of your system. This boosts in energy will help you accomplish daily tasks and even go to the gym after work. Detoxification cleanses essential organs such as the liver, kidneys and colon. These organs are crucial in the body’s waste management system. Buildup of toxins in the body can slow down the work that they do. Overtime, when the stress is too much to bear, these organs may experience fatigue, disrupting their function. Diseases associated with abnormally functioning liver and kidneys can become serious medical conditions. Therefore, proper care and management is important. Weight loss can just be a bonus when you choose to detox. Because you are choosing to live healthily, you can rid yourself of excessive calories, salt, sugar and other unhealthy foods that compromises your detoxification process. Also, as you continue with a good cleansing regimen, your organs will be able to function well, improving your metabolism.
How Can You Detoxify? The “father of plants”, Alfalfa, is gaining popularity in the field of detox. Alfalfa has roots that can reach 20 to 30ft down the ground. For this unique characteristic, minerals and essential vitamins are rich in Alfalfa. Traditionally, the herb’s parts from its leaves to the seeds are used as medicine. It is a good source of minerals such as Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Phosphorous and Zinc, as well as vitamins A, C and E.
Alfalfa, as early as the 6th century, has been beneficial for its role in treating many health issues such as kidney problems, arthritis, cardiovascular disorders, digestive problems and auto-immune illnesses. Today, more and more health problems are being addressed by the use of Alfalfa. Detoxification using the herb also became popular due to its natural ability to eliminate excess fluid and toxins in the body. Aside from this, its vitamins and mineral properties are useful for people who are trying to lose weight. Detoxification should be a healthy process. Make sure to make it as one by using the right detox ingredient.

Probiotics for Oral Health

Subject: Probiotics for Oral Health
Bacteria usually makes people think of organisms that cause disease. The truth is that there are countless types of bacteria and while some of them do cause disease, there are millions of bacteria that are beneficial to the body. For optimum health, the body should consist of about 85% healthy bacteria.
These healthy bacteria help with; - Protection against colonization of unhealthy bacteria such as Candida.
- Nutrient and vitamin absorption.
- Protection from allergies.
Sourcing Healthy Bacteria The information that the human body is dependent on good bacteria for healthy functionality only recently came out and with it came a plethora of food products designed to promote the growth of healthy bacteria such as Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG. Food that are good for the production of healthy bacteria in the body are called probiotics. Fermented foods such as yogurt, miso and sauerkraut are great probiotics however these food have to be unpasteurized as the pasteurization process kills all of the bacteria in food, both good and bad. While most bacteria is present inside people's guts, there are some that occur both in the intestinal tract and the mouth. Streptococcus salivarius is a major member of the microbes that make up the healthy bacteria inside of a person's mouth. The Colonization of S. Salivarius in the Mouth Oral Streptococci are one of the first bacteria to colonize the mouths of newborn humans. For bacteria to colonize the mouth, it must first avoid the body's natural defenses against colonization from foreign microbes and resist the forces of saliva. To resist these forces, streptococci have developed adhesives that interact with the exposed areas of the mouth to keep them securely fastened to the area that they wish to colonize. There are two main types of surfaces in the mouth. These are the hard and non-shedding surfaces of the teeth, and soft tissues whose surfaces have cells that are constantly being replaced such as the tongue and cheeks. S. mutans and S. Sangunins have tropisms that enable them to stick to the surfaces of the teeth while S. Salivarius has adapted tropisms that enable it to adhere onto the soft tissues. All of these areas of the mouth are constantly coated with saliva. Saliva provides a variety of molecules that are ideal for streptococcal bacteria to interact with and adhere to. The thin films of saliva within the mouth vary in thickness and chemical composition at different points. Therefore different locations in the mouth consist of saliva that has more or less favorable receptors to the adherance properties of streptococci. For example, streptococci located on chips in teeth exhibit varied properties in their ability to bind to salivary proteins in those locations. Streptococcus and Healthy Mouths Streptococci's process of colonization makes it difficult for pathogenic bacteria to stick to the host. With the emergence of the knowledge that bacteria in the mouth promotes health, new strains of S. Salivarius such as K12 and K18 have been developed to help fight oral health problems that people deal with every day. These probiotics are designed as mouth washes that a person gargles for direct application. Once there, these probiotics create bacteriocin-like inhibitory substances called Salivaricin A and Salivaricin B that have the ability to fight infection. Maladies Treated by S. Salivarius Tonsil Stones: Tonsil stones are produced by the unchecked accumulation of bacteria that produce sulfur. The debris created by this bacteria then accumulates in the tonsils. Oral probiotics break down these unwanted globs. Bad Breath: When the body sleeps the brain sends signals to the mouth to reduce its production of saliva. The reduction of saliva turns the mouth into an environment that is more favorable to the growth of bacteria that thrives in dry and anaerobic conditions. The proteins produced by S. Salivarius K12 inhibit the growth of this bad-breathe causing bacteria. Ear infections: The misinformed believe that ear infections start from outside the ear. The truth is that they are caused by bacteria that originates inside the throat and then travels up to the ear canal through the Eustachian tube. Beneficial bacteria such as that found in probiotics prevent this from happening by forming a protective bio-film in the throat that prevents harmful bacteria from progressing. Bacterial Transplants When it was discovered that bacteria is essential for healthy gut activity, the doctor who made the discovery suggested that if a person is suffering from certain maladies of the stomach or gut or whose healthy gut bacteria has been eviscerated by steroids or antibiotics, said person can get a transplant of bacteria from a healthy donor. This idea was also applied to a man who came into his doctor complaining of an ear infection. The doctor simply took a sample of ear wax from the person's healthy ear, transferred it into the infected ear and the infection passed. Subject: Reduce Caloric Intake with Xylitol
Xylitol is a natural sweetener which was discovered long back in 1891 but since 1960s it is used as a good alternative for refined sugar to sweeten a number of edible products. It reduces caloric intake and the chances of cavities in your dental line. But before discussing the benefits of this alternative sweetener you should know the harms of white sugar on your health which compelled people to adopt it as an effective alternative.
Harmful Effects of Refined Sugar on your Health Sugar is a kind of drug that contains additive chemicals but no nutritional value. Most of the people use it in their day-to-day life due to its addictive properties. According to various health experts white sugar affects your brain like cocaine. In fact, the added sugar in your day-to-day diet can be the single item that is most unhealthy for you. Most people eat it as they are ignorant about the harmful effects of white sugar on their health. It has been proven that white sugar can; - Cause fluctuation in the effect of blood sugar
- Increase the risk of diabetes, heart problems and obesity
- Interfere in the functioning of your immune system
- Cause deficiency of chromium that regulates your blood sugar
- Speeds up aging
- Cause decay your teeth
- Cause gum problems which can cause heart disease
- Affect the cognition and behavior of the children
- Increase stress
- Replace important nutrients.
After realising the harmful effects of white sugar on their health many people have started to adopt alternative sweeteners like Xylitol etc. to replace white sugar and protect their health from its ill effects.
What is Xylitol? Xylitol is a natural product which is produced by human body in normal metabolic conditions and is also found in various vegetables and fruits like fibrous vegetation, hard wood trees and birch etc. It is produced commercially from these fruits and vegetation plants due to the quantity of sucrose and sweetness it provides without giving unpleasant aftertaste and increasing calories. When you eat Xylitol it gives cooling sensation in your mouth.
How it replaces sugar effectively? Xylitol has been approved to be used in various oral health and pharmaceutical products like cough syrups, lozenges, chewable pediatric multivitamins, mouthwashes and toothpastes etc. It is also permitted to use in various food items like hard candies, chewing gums and gum drops etc.
Benefits of Xylitol as alternative sweetener Xylitol is good in taste without any unpleasant flavour. It can be used in same quantity as in sweetness it is equal to sugar. Helps in reducing the chances of cavities in your teeth and reduces the formation of plaque in your teeth. Xylitol also helps in repairing damaged enamel of your teeth by increasing the flow of saliva. It provides 2.4 calories per gram which is about 1/3 of the calories provided by same amount of white sugar.
Most of the healthcare providers advice it as a useful alternative to sugar to their diabetic patients. Thus, Xylitol can be used as an effective alternative to white sugar to reduce the chances of a number of health problems caused by the later one.

Is Your Blood Pressure Out Of Control? Eat beet roots!

Subject: Is Your Blood Pressure Out Of Control? Eat beet roots!
Today, one of the most serious conditions that people face is hypertension, or as it is commonly known, high blood pressure. This is grave condition, that if not checked, can result to fatalities. This condition is mostly found in people who are over 40 years. However, it is not unlikely to find a teenager with hypertension. This is a worrying trend which means that something must be done to prevent it. Luckily, there is a simple solution that people can apply to control this condition. To start with, it is important to understand what causes the condition so that one may know how to combat it. High blood pressure is primarily caused by the constriction of the arteries which makes it hard to pump blood. The arteries are thinner than the veins and this means that the blood in them is at a higher pressure than in the veins. Due to the narrowness, they are able to pump blood faster and for longer distances. When a person feeds on unhealthy food that is rich in cholesterol and other harmful substances, this causes a deposition of the harmful substances on the endothelium (the interior surface of the arteries). When this happens, the arteries become more constricted thus increasing the pressure of blood that flows in them (hence the term high blood pressure). When the pressure increases, there is insufficient supply of blood to vital organs of the body like the brain. When the brain is not supplied with enough nutrients in the blood, this could lead to brain damage or stroke that may cause paralysis. Again, to ensure enough blood gets to the brain, the heart is forced to pump blood faster. This overworks the heart which may lead to heart attacks. Heart attacks are usually fatal. There is therefore a need to unblock the heart vessels to ensure that blood flows easily. Nitric oxide is one of the best known remedy to people suffering from high blood pressure. It helps lower the blood pressure by unblocking the arteries. It has numerous benefits to the body especially in lowering the blood pressure. Arteries are able to release nitric oxide but as one advances in age, their effectiveness diminishes with time. Beet roots are a great source of nitric oxide. Eating lots of them will help supply your body with the nitric oxide it needs to unblock the arteries and thus lower the blood pressure. The whole beet root plant including the leave and the roots provides are rich source of nitric oxide. For those who don’t like eating it raw or cooked, they can juice it and still get the nutrients. Apart from lowering hypertension, beet roots are also known to fight against cancer. These are enough reason why anyone should increase their intake of beet roots whether or not they are suffering from high blood pressure. Beet roots juice is available in stores which could act as a powerful supplement to combat hypertension. The Holiday Sugar Trap; All There is to Know

Subject: The Holiday Sugar Trap; All There is to Know
The festive season can be a tempting affair to any healthy eater. Hopping from one party and family gathering to another might easily see you indulging in unhealthy dishes and drinks. It is quite difficult to hold back on the wide varieties of delicious treats unless your will is exceptional. Counting the calories in the food you eat when in the middle of a conversation with a long lost friend or family members isn't easy. What you regard as 'just a once off affair' might ruin the rest of the year for you. There is a lot of hidden sugar in holiday treats such as; syrup, cakes, flavored pop corn, cookies, soda, juices, lemonades and ice cream. Reasons to Avoid Sugar During the Festive Season Added sugar has been proven to have harmful effects on your health. There are some known risks that you might be exposing yourself to just by having an extra cupcake. Sugar plays a harmful role in tooth decay. Plaque, a harmful bacteria responsible for tooth decay, uses sugar as a form of energy. This way, the plaque multiplies and becomes thick hence making it difficult for it to be washed away by saliva. Sugar is also used as a form of glue for the bacteria to firmly stick to the teeth. Added sugar for instance fructose corn syrup contains a lot of empty calories with zero nutrients. These calories do not contain any protein, minerals, vitamins nor any essential fats. It is purely energy which is converted into fats in the body hence weight gain. Did you know that indulging in all that sweetness at the Christmas table might be the beginning of your sugar addiction? Sugar shuttles tryptophan in the brain which further converts to serotonin hence having a physiological addictive effect. When the refined sugar intake is high, the body might be forced to produce more leptin and insulin. This is due to the high carbohydrate and processed food diet. When these two rise, blood pressure might go up leading to leptin and insulin resistance. Insulin is responsible for the storage of magnesium meant for the relaxation of muscles in the body. When the insulin is interfered with, the lack of magnesium in the cells may lead to the inability of your your hearts' vessels to fully relax hence narrowing them. This overworks your heart hence increased blood pressure. Refined sugar has been proven to cause diabetes, obesity as well as other conditions that put your heart at risk. New studies have linked sugar with unhealthy cholesterol and increased triglyceride levels. When you consume a lot of refined sugar, the excess is stored in the liver as tryglecirides (a form of fat that sticks to your arteries). This fat travels through the blood stream and may clog it up. That extra can of soda might leave you struggling with life altering health conditions. It is important to consider healthy alternatives to refined sugars. A perfect example in this case would be unsweetened or stevia calorie free sweetners. Sweet leaf and Truvia are made of stevia which is a natural herbs that are commonly found in South and Central America. Stevia is 40 times sweeter than sugar yet contains no empty calories which makes it a suitable alternative. These sweeteners are easily available in local stores and can be used in almost anything; tea, coffee, cereal, yogurt and even fruit. Subject: Improving Liver Health - Does NAC Help Improve Liver Health?
All organs in our body have purposes why they exist. This includes our football size liver. Many people take their liver health for granted. Since it is an internal organ, we do not see the actual effects of toxins and unhealthy lifestyle as they slowly destroy the liver. However, we might feel the results from time to time. Our liver has the size of a football, making it a star football player in our digestive system where everything passes through it. It cleanses the blood by taking away hazardous chemicals, converting the liquid into bile, which is then used to break down fat from the food we eat. The liver also stores glucose, a sugar that quickly boosts energy. So how do we take care of our liver?
How to Take Care of Liver Health It is okay to enjoy and have fun, but to do it every day with a lot of alcohol is dangerous. Drinking too much alcohol leads to the swelling of liver cells. - Maintain a healthy diet and have regular exercise
Controlling what you eat and good amount of exercise will help you avoid non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases, a condition that might lead to severe liver damage. - Be careful with the medicines you are taking
There are some medicines such as Tylenol and cholesterol drugs that may hurt your liver when taken in uncontrolled doses. Also avoid taking medicines with alcohol, because they are not a good combination, or joining different drugs together. Many studies say that liver diseases are caused by the lack of Glutathione or GSH in our body. That is why NAC comes to the rescue. NAC is a small protein powerful to restore intracellular level of Glutathione or GSH, an effective antioxidant. The GSH is most needed by those who have liver diseases because it protects the liver against toxicity. When you are suffering from stress caused by a chronic liver disease, there is the reduction of glutathione, which is why there is a need to supplement it. NAC also helps to protect against present liver damages by reducing a wide range of chronic, deteriorating issues which include liver inflammation and impaired glucose control. Taking good care of our liver health is like grooming a football superstar. Always watch out of the things you are doing to it.

Cause of GMO
GMO's have been classified by the American Academy of Environmental Medicine as unhealthy, they were able to prove that GMO when ingested can cause organ damage, gastrointestinal as well as immune system disorders. This is due to the fact that GMO contains materials that are left behind the body, it can cause long term problems like accelerated aging as well as infertility. The genes inserted into a genetically modified crop like corn, can get transferred into the DNA of bacteria that is living inside the human body, this interaction can lead to a number of long term health problems.
Negative effects of genetically modified products have been observed in 1996, this was due to the number of Americans expressing a number of illnesses after consuming foods that have been engineered for 9 years.
Allergies increased including digestive problems and autism, while other research has yet to support this claim, many non-profit organizations such as Greenpeace are already making campaigns against the production of GMO infused crops and meat.
What are the other negative impacts of GMO?
1. Cancer causing components - GMO according to the American Public Health Association and American Nurses Association, have stated that the growth hormone present from cow’s milk treated by hormone IGF-1 can lead to cancer.
2. Long term negative effects on the body - GMO components can contaminate forever, it can cross pollinate, and the seeds can travel. Once it infects a certain area, it can contaminate the entire gene pool. This means, that the health of future generations is already compromised and for this reason, the production has to be stopped right away before it infects more population.
3. Dangerous side effects - the mere process of creation of GMO's can produce toxins, carcinogens, allergens and nutritional deficiencies.
The direct production and consumption is already endangering a number of species including bees.
Many governments continue to remain lax about the issue, GMOs are illegally being sold and created in many countries, and people need to learn as much as they can in order to learn how they can prevent GMO products from entering their market. Sources
